Christmas Lantern Home Decor

Good Morning all.  I hope you are all getting there with your Christmas Preperations.  So today i am sharing this Christmas Lantern project that i made for my mum for Christmas, i gave it to her early so she can enjoy it over the festivities.  Its actually wood so ive added a battery candle.  Its photo heavy so you may need a cup of tea but i hope you enjoy looking at all the little details.

So first i painted the whole lantern with black gesso, then added lots of texture with texture paste, die cuts & pearl drops to give the rivet effect and then covered in black gesso again, i then highlighted with metallic paint in gold and silver to give it a tarnished metal look.  This is a new technique for me, never done anything like it before but it was great fun.

White texture paste which faux snow and glitter to give the snow effect.  Lots of die cut holly and ivy in various greens, tattered lace fern die cut in kraft card, red plastic berries.

The little holder i made to keep the candle in place inside

And below is how the lantern was when i bought it, wood base and metal top.

And for a little Christmas Cheer, here was our late night visitor dropping in! lol   This chap has been on an intensive feeding programme to fatten it up to hibernate, so in the last 2 months its done amazingly well. However as much as i love the little hedgehogs - not in the home thank you! lol  Maybe he was looking for his christmas dinner last night!

Thank you for looking and taking the time to view all these photos today.  My mum and dad loved the lantern so made all those weeks of work worth it.

Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas.  Emma

Pringle gift boxes

Good Morning all.  So today im sharing these revamped pringle tubes, I've turned them into little gift boxes ideal for adding treats or a little pressie in.

Still on my using up old paper mission, i used papermania christmas papers, after washing out the tubes and drying well i covered with paper, i die cut a circle of paper to add face up under the lid so you can't see the contents, Tim Holtz Rosette dies for the topper, i made 3 sizes and layered them up with a berry on top, kind of like a tree.  Red ribbon and bow to finish. These were the small pringle tubes.

Thank you for looking and all your previous comments.  I hope you all have a good week. Emma

Merry Christmas to you all

Good Morning all, so today i am sharing the special Christmas cards i made for close family.

Marianne Lantern die, cut in copper mirri, i backed the door with acetate, to get the back panel of the lantern, i embossed the die only and then used scissors to cut around the outside of it, hand cut candle, i then added the front lantern onto the back one with foam tape. Spellbinders poinsettia die cut in royal blue card, copper pearls to finish, foliage die cut in green cardstock.  Took me several days with making up all the flowers. A5 cards.

Silver and red version.  Being me the blue and copper is my favourite combo as its just me!

Merry Christmas

Good Morning everyone.  So today I'm sharing this batch of Christmas cards.  Based on my Alpha fishtail design and also on a mission to use up old papers!

Die-namics pierced fishtail banner dies, de'sire alpha dies used to cut the individual letters out of each fishtail to spell Happy and Merry.  I first computer printer the Christmas onto the card blank. I then layered the fishtail onto either silver or gold mirror card and then again onto red or navy cardstock.  Ive only glued the top of the fishtails down so it adds movement. Buttons or Sequins to finish.  Very difficult to get decent photos of these. Simple really, but time consuming doing all the die cutting.

Aqua papers, silver mirri and red card combo

Red papers, gold mirri and red cardstock combo

blue papers, silver mirri and navy cardstock combo.

Thank you for looking and any comments you leave.  Wishing you all a happy Sunday. Emma

Friend Shaker Card

Good Morning everyone on this wet and grey day.

So today im sharing another shaker card, been into these this year.  I made this for a special friend for her birthday.

I used Spellbinders 'fancy label tags one' die set, first to cut out the aperture shape, i then cut another one in black which i set back in and backed it all with acetate.  Filled the shaker up with purple micro beads and some glitter.  Mounted onto purple card.  I then stamped the justrite 'friend' stamp onto the smallest tag cut from the set.  Ready made lilac and white roses and leaves to finish.

Children's colour in cards

I made these fun cards for my nieces Sophie and Lizzy, i can't take credit for the idea though as saw it on pinterest.

Colouring pages from internet, i added the girls names in serif craft artist and used a font that they could also colour in.  The hardest part was adding the crayons in a way that they would stay put but also easy to remove for little hands.  I added them to the card with velcro in the end.  Fun to make and hopefully the girls will have fun colouring in their own cards at the weekend.  Thank you for looking. LittleEm's Bauble branches!

Good Morning all, its a nice grey and wet day here.  So todays cards are a set of LittleEm's!  The wonderful Kathkat named them 2 years ago when i started these mini cards and its stuck!

Off cuts and scraps left over from making the gingerbread man cards. They are approx 3x6"

Papers are Authentique 'Believe' die cut into stitched squares, layered onto white card, card base is ginger from payper box.  Elizabeth crafts pine branch die, spellbinders bauble die, pearls to finish.  I covered the baubles in glossy accents to make them shiny. LOTV sentiment stamp.   I know you don't actually get berries on pine branches but its artistic license!

Thank you for looking. Emma

Im a Gingerbread Man!

Good Morning all, wow thank you for all the amazing comments and support in the first week of my blog, i really do appreciate you taking the time.

So today is this set of gingerbread cards, i made the gingerbread men for our family crackers last year and mum saved them, so i thought would ideal to use up this gorgeous paper pad with them.

Paper pad is 'Believe' by Authentique.   So first i die cut the papers into the scalloped edged shape using the matting part of a sizzix flip it set, 3 sized circles and a strip of contrast paper to hide the join.  LOTV christmas sentiment stamp. Ginger pearlised card from payper box.  I hand cut the gingerbread man, decorated him with paper shapes and viva enamel drops.

Thank you for looking at these fun cards.  Wishing you all a good day. Emma

Childrens Advent Calendars

Ive been on a mission this year to use up older stash and papers, so a way of using up some old christmas papers i thought advent calendars for my beautiful nieces.

So this first one is shared by 2 little girls, sizzix box die made up with white card and layered with papermania papers, twine threaded to keep the lids shut, i joined the boxes using velcro so that they can easily be taken apart and reused in future as well.  As its for little hands kept it quite simple for them. In the boxes i didn't just add chocolate i added little toys, nail polish which they love, dried fruits, so each box is a surprise for them.  Difficult to get a decent photo.

and this second one is for the little one, she is only one so wanted it really easy for her

Very old GCD papers folded into little pockets big enough to hold a large chocolate coin.  Tim Holtz poinsettia die for the flowers and buttons.  This one was much quicker to make as half way through the big one i did wonder why i started it but luckily they love them and thats all that matters.  Crafting to bring joy to others is the best.  Thank you for looking and following my venture into blogland!. Dad's Birthday Card

Here is card 2 that i made for my dads birthday, this was after 3 attempts as it just wasn't working like i hoped, so its a take on my old design of fishtail banners with the letters cut out of them.

I used die namics pierced fishtail banners, Desire alpha dies to cut the dad out and matted over royal blue cardstock.  Blue wood paper from papermania Mr Smiths workshop. Spellbinders happy birthday die cut in the same paper and blue card and offset to add shadow.  Metal mini tools from my stash.  Hopefully he likes it.

Polar Bear Rocker Cards

Good Morning all, welcome to December, where did this year go?  White frost out so i think i will share some frosty Christmas cards today.  Some of you have been lucky enough to have had a sneak peek at these Christmas Rocker Cards.

Spellbinders grand circles, tattered lace polar bear die, spellbinder curved borders for the snow mound!  Brusho's for the background/sky, touches of glitter glue to highlight the snow.  I used Serif craft artist to make the sentiment banner.  I love how you never get the same background twice using the brusho's, i also used them for the mat layer on the base to tie it all in together.

Now i wonder what a group of Polar bears is called?

Thank you for  taking a peek.  Emma x
