You are a star

Good Morning everyone

Today im sharing a 'You are a Star' card I made for a friend, she is a super star for sure.  I used my new XL star dies from Creative products which have a lovely cut out detail to the edges for a bit of interest.

Size approx 8x8" with star points.   I used an old pennyblack koolkats stamp with this kitty on his surf board which I stamped onto white card and then die cut into a star, I then watercoloured with distress inks.  I stamped the cat a 2nd time, cut out just the cat and decoupaged onto the base image.

I found a blue toned paper which has beach icons printed onto it which I die cut with the largest star and added to a star die cut from white card.  I die cut a another star from more white card, scored about an inch down on one of the points and adhered to the back thus making it a stand up card.

Taking 2 smaller stars I die cut a frame from white card, I wanted this raised and thought would be a nightmare to add foam pads to the shape so I die cut another 2 frames from scrap card from packaging, these I adhered to the back of the white frame and it gave it some height. This I then added to the cardfront.

I then adhered my cat topper into the middle.  Adding frosted lace stickles to the foam on the surf for a little subtle sparkle.

Sentiment made up from die cut letters and chit chat stickers on kraft card to pick up on the tones in the cat and a contrast to all the blue and white.

Showing it stood up

Just a close up of surfing kool kat.  Although my cats don't mind water and one has been known to go swimming, I think surfing is out of the question😁

Kitty-Bea bunting

 Good Morning everyone

This week my 2nd youngest niece is 7.  At the moment she is really into garden birds so instead of a card I made some bunting with her name on and lots of lovely birds.

Trying to get a decent photo of this not been so easy.  This is it hung up - ive left the ribbon long on one end so that they can adjust it if need be for hanging up, then they can trim the excess.

As Kitty-Bea has an unique name its always nice to make something with her name on it.  She also has an abstract art style so the funky colours of these digi birds are ideal for her.

They are Mixed Media Birds clipart from etsy shop Double Helix digitals   I printed onto digital printer paper, cut them out and sealed with mod podge.  I flipped some of them before printing and printed at different sizes so that i could have them looking at each other like a pair etc...

I made a box using feather printed kraft card and used a tag I had left over from the bunting

I used a couple of beads on the ends of the bunting for some interest. I die cut the cross stitch effect fishtail banner dies from 350gsm kraft card.  I found a very old paper pad in my stash which has some of Kitty-Beas fav colours and went well with the birds. These i die cut into a smaller banner and adhered to the kraft card.  Circles die cut from the off cuts and alphas die cut from white and kraft card, matted together with a drop shadow and covered in glossy accents to give an enamelled finish.

As well as the panels with the alpha's on I added a blank panel each end so i could add a bigger bird.  I added bronze effect eyelets and used organza ribbon to join it all together.

Ive used different birds on each panel.  Although they aren't real to life colours you can easily tell by the shape and stance of each bird which type they are based on.  Kitty-Bea is lucky that where they live they get alot of different garden birds.
I added a small touch of stickles glitter glue to each bird just to add a little sparkle as what little girl doesn't love sparkle

Items Used:
Double Helix Digitals - Mixed Media birds clip art
MFT Xstitch fishtail banner die set
Stitched circle dies
Memory box Alpha dies
Very old paper pad from create&craft
Craft UKltd kraft card
Ranger glossy accents
Stickles 'diamond'

Thank you for stopping by once again and all your previous comments, I really do appreciate them all.  I hope you have a good week.  Emmax

Mums birthday

Good Morning everyone

Today Im sharing the card I made for my mums birthday.  Ive gone full on flower power this year with these lovely hydrangeas I built up.  By using brushos & pixie powders to colour the cardstock I was able to get a quite realistic colour for some of the bushes my mum has in one of her gardens.  Growing up I always remember my gran wanting Blue ones, every blue one she planted turned Pink and my other gran (nan) always wanted a pink one but they all turned Blue, even when adding various additives to the soil they would eventually change colour😁

7x7" scalloped card base.

I first coloured 3 sheets of A4 card with brushos and pixie powders and let dry.  Once dry I die cut alot of the petals, I then shaped the petals with an embossing tool to give them more concave curve.  I die cut a circle from the same background so that I could build up my flower - by using the same colour as the flowers any gaps aren't noticeable.  I then got building, starting from the outside working in, adhered the outside ones flat and using more glue gel on the inside ones to get more dimension and a more realistic shape.  Each die cut petal had a hole in the centre so i added a drop of lime green stickles glitter glue to hide that.  I made the flower heads in 3 slightly different sizes.

I die cut lots of leaves from green coloured brusho card.  I used a brick embossing folder onto a piece of white card slightly smaller than the card front, lightly inked over it with peeled paint & dried marigold distress ink and added it to the front.  I then arranged the flowers and leaves until I was happy with the look.

To finish I die cut 'mum' from the same card as the flowers and added.

This shows the colour better, with the pixie powder there is a shimmer when the light hits it

With the brick embossing folder technically i used the debossed side as the bricks should be the embossed and the cement debossed but that side of this embossing folder never looks good to me for some reason so i always use it this way round.

Here you can see the dimension better

Items Used:
Hydrangea die - brand unknown as I bought secondhand
Crafters companion 8x8 brick embossing folder
Crafters companion alpha dies
CraftUK ltd 7" scalloped card blank
Ranger Stickles 'lime'
Distress Inks 'peeled paint, dried marigold'
Brusho Powders 'Ost blue, purple, rose, lime & leaf green'
Cosmic shimmer pixie powders 'plum'

Thank you for stopping by once again and taking the time to visit and comment.  I appreciate both.  Happy Crafting. Emmax

Meowy Christmas

Good Morning everyone

Today is time for a fun Christmas card using these fun cat stamps from aall&create, i decided to use an old wreath die set from Tonic studios with them.

7x7" card base.  I first made my background by stamping onto white card with soft tone distress inks and Christmas and winter themed word stamps, using multiple generations of stamping until no ink left on the stamp.  I then embossed this panel with a 'knitted' effect embossing folder - picking up on the idea that the cats are wearing jumpers - hard to make out the embossing in the photo but it is there!

I cut matt gold card slightly smaller than the card front and then from the middle of it die cut the wreath die - this I could then use for the card front and make the gold card go further as i knew it would be hidden behind my background.  I cut the wreath die again from card i had previously inked with green brushos and pixie powders - i off set the gold and green wreaths and adhered to the card front with glue gel.

I stamped the cats, simply coloured with alcohol markers and cut out. I added glossy accents to their noses, frosted lace glitter onto the hot chocolate cream and diamond stickles onto the fairy lights.  To finish i added stickles to the berries on the wreath - on this version I used 'cosmic' which is a purple base with pink tones in the glitter which matched the colours id used to colour their jumpers.

Version 2 - different colours and i used red stickles on the berries and this one has 2 of the hot cocoa cats rather than the 2 fairy light cats on the first card and on this one i added 2 die cut bows to the top of the wreath.

I really don't fancy putting a jumper on any of my cats - I think serious injury would occur.....to me😀

***

Version 3 -  A5 size -  I used copper satin cardstock for my base card, the wreath base layer and to mat behind the sentiment alpha's.  I die cut individual alphas to spell 'meowy christmas' for a fun pun

You can see the copper satin better here, when the light hits it, it really does shine

and version 4 - more mossy green tones here

Items Used:
aall&create stamps #740 'light it up' & 'Seaons'
Clearly besotted stamps 'seasonal sentiments'
Tonic studios die - the four seasons loving winter
Alpha tile dies
crafters companion 8x8 embossing folder 'purl'
Brushos
Cosmic shimmer Pixie powders
alcohol markers
Ranger Stickles - frosted lace, diamond, cosmic & Christmas red
Gold & Copper satin cardstock
CraftUk ltd smooth white card

Thank you for stopping by once again and all your previous comments which i always appreciate.  I hope you are keeping warm in this cold snap - although down here its just been torrential rain so no snow......until this morning, opened the curtains to white out😁  Big hugs Emmaxxx

Alice is 9

Good Morning everyone

This week my middle niece Alice is 9 so these are the 2 cards ive made for her.  The first one actually uses the same image i used for her dads card last year - now they are collecting horses and of course there is always a cat or 4 around - its a digi stamp from hetty clare called friends forever

Alices favourite colours are purple & green

approx 7x7" card made from white card with nesting dies.  I printed the image onto white along with the sentiment and coloured with inktense pencils, stencilled horse shoes around with and die cut into shape and adhered to the card front.  I die cut a frame from dark green card and added to the card front with 2mm foam tape

I bought this stamperia stencil with horse & horseshoes - but its so very thin and delicate it was very difficult to use

Just a close up

Now the better weather has arrived the girls love going out on a horse and cart ride with their dad and spend many happy hours seeing the countryside that way.

Items Used
Hettyclare digi image 'forever friends'
Stamperia stencil 'KSG468'
Derwent inktense pencils
nesting dies
Distress oxide inks vintage photo, black soot, fossilised amber

Alice is a talented gymnast and a little contortionist so i borrowed these gymnast dies from a craft friend

A5 white cardbase.

I die cut the gymnasts from green glitter cardstock and 4 layers of scrap white cardstock which I layered together with the green glitter as the top layer - this gave them a sturdy chipboard depth.  I die cut the letters from purple mirri card and white card and used the white as a drop shadow to help them stand out.

I matted a lilac happy birthday printed cardstock onto purple mirri and then green glitter cardstock and then the card front.  The gymnasts were a bit lost against the background so i tore a piece of vellum adhered my letters and gymnasts to it - i then added tacky pva to the back of the vellum behind the letters and gymnasts and adhered to the card front - that hid the glue holding the vellum in place.

Just a close up - in real life the purple mirri and green glitter really do sparkle and shine

Items Used:
Memory box alpha dies
 gymnast dies
Anna-marie design birthday printed cardstock
papermania white vellum
Green glitter card
Hunkydory purple mirri card
