Charlotte's under the sea

Good Morning everyone

For each of my nieces ive made a personalised picture for their walls.  Charlotte was a baby during covid lockdowns so we didn't see her much at all.  Since last Autumn she has been staying at my parents a fair bit and we have got to know her well.  She has a real empathy for nature and after taking her out shell collecting this spring i finally knew what theme i wanted to do her picture.  Out came my pink ink stamps and ive used several shells that Charlotte herself collected on our day out at the beach.

Picture size: 12x9"
I first made a background with brusho's, cosmic shimmer pixie powders and stencilling - photos below.
I then stamped out the stamps onto white card and watercoloured with my inktense pencils which are colourfast & cut them all out. I then die cut thick cardboard from a cat food box with a Sizzix bigz die to spell charlotte, painted them black and covered with glossy accents, i adhered them into place with pinflair glue gel.  I then got arranging my scene.

I added a pearl bead in one of the shells just for a bit of fun. I used a mix of shells, little pieces of drift wood & some small pebbles.

Its difficult to make out in the photos, but i found a pack iridescent green strands in my stash ive had for years, i added a few of them, just pushing the ends into the glue gel behind my images and shells so that they float freely and catch the light when it hits them.

I stencilled on seaweed using green acrylic paints & cadence dora paints which really shimmer when the light hits them.

You can really make out the glittery stencilled 'bubbles' here.  I also stencilled on some fish with oxide inks

Just showing it in its frame.  I found this wooden box frame in the charity shop, gave it whitewash with white gesso, added some rope around the inside edge and added a lovely large shell which also hides the rope ends.

Items Used:
Tim Holtz Bigz alpha die
Pink Ink stamps 'pinky inky' 'sea turtle'
Various foliage stamps
Foliage & circle stencils
Stamperia stencil - fish
Brusho powders 'turquoise' 'sea green'
Cadence dora paints
Derwent inktense pencils

Thank you all for stopping by. I hope you have a good week.  Emmaxx

3 Portholes

Good Morning everyone

Another sea themed mixed media project today, using 3 mdf circles that i turned into portholes for lots of my sea creature stamps to reside in.

This shows all 3 joined together, i used my crop'o'dile which easily punches through mdf and used some jump rings to join them together.

I took 6" mdf circles, then using my grand circle dies i cut frames from an old cardboard box, to this frame i added 4 screw top brads.  I then covered it all in texture paste to give a rough finish and then coated in black gesso. I then built up the rust effect with acrylic paints and cadence dora paints - just dabbing them on lightly, adding more black here and there until i was happy with it - be patient, this takes time to build up.

I die cut a circle of acetate and attached behind the frame.

I had some left over tile grout which i used as texture paste through stencils onto white cardstock, once dry i added brusho's & cosmic shimmer pixie powders in shades of green, blue & purple.  Once dry die cut into a circle and adhered to he middle of the mdf base.

After stamping, colouring & cut out all my images I started arranging them in the 3 portholes. I added them with glue gel for some dimension.  Once the glue had dried completely I then added the acetate frame over the top with 2mm foam tape.

This first scene is using funky fossil weird fish stamps

2nd porthole has a complete mix of stamps, the octopus was a magazine freebie years ago and some pink ink shells left over from previous project, the 2 little fish are from the funky fossil weird fish set.

You can really see in the photos but the pixie powders in the background really shimmer and shine in the light, I had also dry brushed over the stencilling with 'diamond' cadence dora paint.

and scene 3 using pink ink turtle stamps, in the background i used a turtle stencil - which i think is a funky fossil stencil but i can't find it at the moment to confirm

Items Used:
Funky Fossil stamps 'weird fish'
Pink ink stamps 'sea turtle'
Octopus stamp - magazine freebie
Lavinia Stencils 'foliage'
Circles stencil
Turtle stencil
Brusho's
Cosmic shimmer pixie powders
Derwent inktense pencils
Cadence dora paints
Black gesso & acrylic paints

Thank you for stopping by once again.  I hope you all have a good week, I think its half term so i might get to see my nieces.  Hugs Emmaxxx

Bubbles

Good Morning everyone

As my regular followers will know last year one of my most used paper pads was a water themed one from the works, so i have lots of little snippets and scraps of paper left over which i decided to cut into lots of circles of various sizes and to use them as bubbles for a background to the lovely pink ink turtle and octopus stamps.

A5 white linen card.  I first die cut lots of circles and edged them with blue distress ink. I cut a piece of white linen card slightly smaller than my base and splashed on distress oxide inks in shades of blue & then got arranging the circles and stamped the sentiment.

I stamped the turtle and coloured with distress oxide inks, using colours that would stand out against all the blue and then cut the image out, gently curved and added to the base with glue gel.  To finish i used some really old glitter dots that picked up the colours i used in the turtle.

Version 2 made the same way but using this lovely pink ink octopus stamp and yellow enamel dots.

Items Used:
Pink Ink stamps ' pinky inky' 'sea turtle'
Circle dies
12x12 paper pad from the works 'fresh feeling'
CraftUk ltd white linen cardstock
Distress oxide inks, squeeshed lemonade, ripe persimmon, cracking campfire, picked raspberry, twisted citron, salty ocean, blueprint
Altenew enamel dots
Docrafts glitter gems

Thank you all for popping by once again.  Finally the roofing project has finished 5 wks turned into 10,  so Im back home & they hope to remove all the scaffolding this week which will be good. Its also good to be back with my craft stash after so long😁  I hope its a good week for you all.Hugs Emmaxx

Turtle shaker card

Good Morning all

Now this card has swam to its new home i can share it. Its the last project for now with the fab pink ink turtle stamps.  Ive made a shaker card for a friends birthday.

From navy cardstock using spellbinders grand labels 4 i made my cardbase, then die cut a frame from white card and attached acetate to the back and then foam tape.  I cut a panel from blue brusho inked cardstock and stamped some fish and seaweed, i attached this to the middle of my navy base case, added micro beads, sequins and glitter for my shaker bits and then added my white acetate panel on top.
I then stamped the turtles and coloured with inktense pencils and cut out.  The shells were stamped onto scraps of paper and cut out. Seaweed stamped with an ombre inkpad and also black and cut out.  I then got arranging my scene.  Stamped sentiment cut out for finish.

A close up on my turtle, i added glossy accents to the turtle shells.

This shows how the cardbase is constructed.  I took one of the navy labels 4 and folded in half longways, i then attached a second one to the front.

Items Used:
Pink Ink stamp - sea turtle
Spellbinders grand labels 4 dies
Brusho's
Inktense pencils

Thank you all for stopping by.  I hope you  all have a good week.  Hugs Emmax

Sea of Turtles

Good Morning everyone

Today im sharing a mixed media MDF Home decor project, using the amazing pink ink turtle stamp set.

Size 12x8"  After doing the background which is shown down below i got building up my scene with turtles stamped in black and coloured with inktense pencils and cut out, stamped seaweed & shells and then shells and a little piece of driftwood ive collected over the years on our lovely Cornish beaches. Before assembling I gave everything a coat of gloss mod podge to protect it all.

I added glossy accents to the turtle shells

The photos don't pick it up but the starlight paints really shimmer when the light hits them

I used a mix of stamped shells and real shells.   I haven't gone with a bright blue sea as my turtles are swimming down among the seaweed

How i made the background.
I covered the mdf in black gesso,  added texture paste through a pebble stencil, once dry i covered it all in patches of acrylic paints using colours id used in the turtles.  I then dry bushed on white, silver, gold & diamond paints to soften it and give a shimmer.  I then stencilled on foliage to act as seaweed with dark green paint and some bubbles with a glitter texture paste.  I edged the whole panel with the dark green paint.  I then got sticking on the stamped seaweed, a little bit of net and building up my scene

Just showing the first paint stage - yes it looks a right mess,  you really do have to work through the messy stage and stick with it

and this is how it started out, i bought it to alter, the gesso covers the printed design and gives a good base to work on.

Items Used:
Pink Ink stamp sets 'Sea Turtle' & 'Pinky inky' (for the shell stamps)
Lavinia stencil 'pebbles'
Foliage stencil
Golden texture paste 'white'
Finnibair texture paste 'unicorn'
Pebeo acrylic paints
Imagination crafts starlight/Dora paints 'Rich gold'  'diamond'
Derwent Inktense Pencils
Ranger Glossy accents

Thank you all for stopping by once again, i really appreciate it and waving hello to all my email followers.  I hope its a good week for you all.  Hugs Emmax

Turtley Awesome

Good Morning everyone.

Today is another pink ink stamp...my new addiction i think😀  Ive made a card with an acetate window

A5 dark green cardbase.  I first die cut an aperture in the middle of my base using spellbinders grand labels4, i then cut a piece of white card to fit and got stamping with seaweed stamps from the stamp set using an ombre inkpad.  I stamped some little bubbles at the top with grey ink.  I then stamped more seaweed on white card and cut out.  The shells were all stamped on little off cuts of coloured papers and cut out.
I added acetate to the inside front of the card and a lovely patterned paper insert from a paper pad from the works that i felt looks like more seaweed.
I then stamped my turtle and coloured with inktense pencils and cut out.  I added glossy accents to the shell.  I added her to the card front and arranged the seaweed and shells around her.  I then stamped the sentiment from the set, cut out and attached to finish.

Items Used:
Pink Ink stamps 'sea turtle'
Spellbinders Grand Labels 4 dies
Ombre ink pad
Paper pad make & create 'fresh feeling' - the works
Derwent Inktense pencils
CraftUk ltd smooth white card
Dark green cardstock
