Make My Monday #47 - Victorian romance

Good Morning all, i hope you are enjoying the bank holiday weekend and having some good weather, its been a bit mixed down here.  That storm we had Friday night was something else, never seen anything like it before.

Anyway today is the start of a new challenge over at Make My Monday

Its VICTORIAN ROMANCE

So if you fancy joining in and seeing what the rest of the design team came up with please do pop over.

This theme is about the furthest you can get from my normal style, so looking for ideas i spent ages going through my stash and found these vintage sepia images.  Ive added lots of lace and pearls.  I imagine these ladies are daydreaming about their love.

The photos are dark but its all matted on dark brown not black as it looks.  A5 brown cardblank.  Soft peach patterned paper wrapped with pale peach lace, I then mounted the 3 images, added 2 beige crochet flowers from my stash and lots of peachy pearls.

For the sentiment i used a wooden happy and covered it in chocolate pearl embossing powder.

Close up.

Items used:  Doolicraft images
Paper - poundland 'pretty pastels'
happy wood sentiment - the works
Chocolate brown cardstock - payperbox
Cosmic shimmer cocoa embossing powder

We look forward to seeing your Victorian Romance entries at

Thank you for stopping by and to all of you who left comments last week.  Enjoy your bank holiday monday. Emma

SIL Birthday card

Good Morning all, i hope you are having a good week and plenty of sunshine to enjoy too.

So today i am sharing the card i made for my sister in laws birthday.

5x7" cardblank.  I first die cut a piece of patterned paper with stitched die, then using a smaller rectangle die cut a panel in the middle which i then mounted on foam and set back into the aperture.  Matted onto black cardstock, the black then also shows through the middle rectangle from the sides, just adding a bit of interest to a simple design.

Various die cut flowers from black card stock, twine bow to finish. I stamped the sentiment and die cut with the same stitched rectangle dies and mounted on the edge, this is something i do quite alot, inspired many years ago by a top i was wearing and the brand name was a tag on the side seam.

Close up, i just added a touch of pink starlight paint to the flower centres.  All flowers were kindly sent to me by a buddy so im not sure on the make of the dies but think they are all memory box.

Items used:
Patterned Paper - My Minds Eye 'Jubilee'
Double stitched rectangle dies - My Favourite things
Sentiment stamp - stampin up 'curly cute'

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend and that the weather is perfect.  Emma

Make My Monday #44 - Embossing

Good Morning everyone, I hope you are enjoying the Easter Weekend.

So today is a new challenge over at Make My Monday, the theme is embossing, for more details and to look at all the design teams makes follow this link

The first thing that came to my mind seeing it was embossing was all those 'core'dination' pads i had in the cupboard, so i dug out my favourite of them, the 'chocolate box' these are all shades of chocolate with a coloured core once embossed and sanded back.

So i dug out a mix of embossed folders with smaller patterns and had fun

A5 ivory cardblank.   I first cut several octogens from the chocolate core'dinations, embossed them and sanded back to reveal the coloured core, i then cut a bigger octogen from the reverse of the core'dination to create mats from the same colour as the embossing.  I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and layered onto a small embossed panel.

Close up showing the embossing and colour better
