WLS Jan#1 - anything but square

Good Morning everyone

WISHING YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.  Mine didn't go quite to plan - I had an emergency tooth extraction Christmas eve which did not go smoothly - I will be having nightmares about it for years to come I think!  So I didn't get to eat much, although I did go over to family for Christmas day but came home early.  The swelling is finally subsiding and my dislocated jaw settling down😀...

*************

Time for the first challenge post of the year for We Love Stamping where the theme picked by me is for ANYTHING BUT SQUARE - So any other shaped card or you can always use the anything goes as long as stamping involved.

This should be an easy one for me as i make alot of shaped cards using my nesting dies but my mojo always goes on holiday this time of year.  I use it up getting all Christmas and we have alot of December and early Jan birthdays made so its off on its annual holiday!

Looking for inspiration in my stamps I found this old Chocolate Baroque set with spring flowers which seemed ideal.  So ive made a little snowdrop card.

Card size approx 3.5x5"  I die cut my card base using crealies stitched arch die from white card.  I stamped the front with the snowdrop stamp in a peeled paint distress ink, the word 'spring' with marigold DI and a stamp saying 'beautiful beginnings' in shaded lilac DI using multi-generation ink for them all.  Splatters added with the same DI.  I inked the outside edge with 'green oasis' versafine clair ink

I stamped the snowdrops with 'green oasis' versaclair ink onto a smaller white arch die cut and added a little colour with the same distress inks used for the background.  I matted this onto a larger arch die cut from lilac glitter card and added to the card front with foam tape, adding a little strip of the glitter card across the front too.

I love seeing the snowdrops appearing from the brown winter earth, the first signs that life is awakening once again. We are lucky in Cornwall that Spring does start early and the first bulbs are well on their way to showing their cheery heads.

Items Used:
Chocolate Baroque stamps 'spring is in the air'
aall&create stamps #455 'seasons' #748 'add a motto'
Crealies arched dies
Distress Inks 'peeled paint, dried marigold, shaded lilac, vintage photo'

These are the lovely prizes you could win from aall&create

So do hop over to we love stamping to join in and see what the rest of the DT came up with.

I look forward to sharing another year of crafting with you all.  Big hugs Emmaxx

WLS June Mid month

Good Morning all.

Its half way though June and time for more inspiration over at We Love Stamping - still plenty of time for you to join in and a chance to win lots of lovely prizes to help celebrate their 15th birthday.  The theme is fabulous florals or you can use the anything goes option

Ive used my well loved crealies XL arch dies to make my card blank for burnt orange cardstock.  I stamped the image twice and die cut the base layer into an arch and stencilled on umbrellas with gloss paste. Once dry I inked the edges with tumbled glass and salty ocean distress inks.  I took a stencil with a sun like circular swirl and inked through with yellow distress inks and then added diamond stickles over the top to give the effect of the shining sun.

I then watercoloured the 2nd flowers with distress inks and cut out just the flower heads and decoupaged with glue gel onto the base image.  I then matted this onto a larger white arch and then the base card.

In my stash i found these bees left over from previous project which were the ideal finishing touch.

You can just make out the stencilling here, the umbrellas are a soft mint colour and the glittering circular sun

Items Used:
aall&create stamp set #529 'in the wild'
Chocolate baroque stamps 'honey bee'
Funky fossil umbrella stencil
Circular sun stencil
Cosmic shimmer glossy glaze 'spring mint'
Distress Inks - squeezed lemonade, wild honey, ripe persimmon, vintage photo, cracked pistachio, evergreen bough, tumbled glass, salty ocean
Ranger stickles 'diamond'

Thank you for popping by and don't forget to hop over to https://www.welovestamping.co.uk/ to join in with your floral or anything goes cards and be in with a chance of winning lots of stamps. Emmax

Happy Birthday to ewe

Good Morning everyone

I was asked to make a 70th birthday card for a lady which wasn't girly with flowers, she shows prize sheep and likes patchworking so that got my little grey cells whirling!  I dug out my Katzelkraft sheep stamp and crealies patchwork die set.  I knew i wanted to give the sheep fancy jumpers so i found the paper in my stash for that first and then went looking for something to match in colour for the background and found this ideal green paper with small pink flowers which is ideal to give the impression of a summer meadow

Approx size 6x6".  I first stamped the sheep 4 times onto white pearl cardstock and 4 times onto the patterned paper, i cut cut the body part out of the paper and pieced onto the white version.
I die cut the largest die in the patchwork set from folded white pearl cardstock to form my cardbase and then the patchwork layer dies from the patterned paper and adhered onto the base.  I die cut a large circle from white vellum which i adhered to the bottom left with a dab of glue in the middle which would be hidden by the sheep.
I gently shaped the sheep and added with glue gel for dimension.
Computer printed sentiments onto more of the white pearl cardstock and die cut into speech bubble and adhered with glue gel.

Im not sure these sheep would win gold cup prizes in shows but they might win a prize for most colourful sheep

and the insert.  I had another sheet of the 6x6" paper i used for their jumpers so die cut to fit inside, added a die cut white pearl and then another sheep.

Items Used:
Katzelkraft stamp set ' farm animals'
Crealies patchwork die set
Memory box stitched octogen die
Stitched circle die
Speech bubble dies
Patterned paper
Vellum
White pearl cardstock

Thank you all for stopping by.  Emmax

Christmas patchwork

Good Morning everyone

After making my previous batch of exploding insert Christmas cards i had a lot of 1&2" strips of paper left over.  I dug out my old crealies patchwork set and die cut all the paper pieces - my baby blue was ideal for all these small pieces.

6x6 white base card.  After die cutting all the papers with the patchwork layer dies i inked all the edges with vintage photo distress ink.  I cut the largest octogen die from the set from gold satin cardstock and used a purl embossing folder on it, i then added the panel to my 6x6 base card and used my guillotine to cut off the corners to turn it into an octogen.

I added foam tape to the back of the patchwork pieces and then got arranging them.  I die cut the sentiment circle from white card and a circular frame for it from the gold satin card.  I fussy cut some holly from another paper and added glossy accents to the berries & touches of glitter glue to finish.

I managed to make 12 cards from the offcuts.  The bottom right one in the photo using a tonic sentiment die as i made a mess that needed hiding😁

Items Used:
Crealies octogen patchwork dies (very old set)
MFT circle sentiment die
Tonic winter wishes die
Crafters companion embossing folder 'purl'
The works 12x12 paper pads - classic christmas party, the best time of the year, traditional christmas & woodland christmas
Gold satin card
6x6" craftUK ltd white card blanks
Ranger glossy accents
Ranger stickles 'diamond'

Thank you all for stopping by.  If you celebrate halloween then i hope you enjoy your day and I hope you all have a good week.  Hugs Emmaxx

Sunflowers

Good Morning everyone

I hope you all had a good weekend, it is certainly feeling more autumnal, which i love.

Today im sharing a small batch of floral cards.  Using lovely aall&create stamps, ive coloured them to look more like sunflowers.  Ive used pearl cardstock with a hint of gold, which is lovely to colour onto and the shimmer still shines through.

Approx size .I used Crealies arch dies and white pearl to make my base card and a smaller frame.  I attached the frame to the base with foam tape.  On the die cut  piece from the middle of the frame i stamped the flowers and watercoloured around them with distress inks and then splashed on more of the same ink and i glued it into the middle of the frame.  I stamped the flowers again onto more of the pearl card and watercoloured with derwent inktense pencils, cut out, added some shape and decoupaged them onto the base image with glue gel.

I stamped a bee, cut out and added to the base.  Touches of glitter glue on the flower centre finish and yellow gems to finish.

Card 2 made the same way, just added a little bee

card 3 - I went with with an orange and green colour combo this time

and card 4.

Items Used:
aall&create stamps 'in the wild'
Pinkink bee stamp 'queen bee'
Crealies XXL nest dies - arch
White gold pearl cardstock
Derwent inktense pencils
Distress inks 'tumbled glass' 'cracked pistachio'
Ranger stickles 'crystal' & 'diamond'

Thank you all for stopping by.  I hope you all have a great week. Hugs Emmax

Don't be so square

Good Morning everyone

Im honoured today to be guest designer over at lets squash it challenge blog, which encourages us to use our embossing folders. I really should use mine more as have so many of them and they always give a lovely effect.

The challenge this time is to make a shaped card, so i eventually decided to dig out my old crealies patchwork die set and make an octagonal card and use 2 different embossing folders.

Size approx 6x6"  I first made a background paper to use for my flowers in tones of orange using brushos and lots of shimmering pixie powders and put it to one side to dry.

I die cut the bigger patchwork dies from white card and a pale green glitter card, i decided on the green glitter card as it contrasts with the orange.  I embossed the white panels with 2 sizzix embossing folders and very lightly inked over the top with lilac distress ink to just highlight the embossing.

I adhered the glitter panel to a white card blank and then cut around the outside edge with my guillotine to give my shaped card.  I then added the embossed panels with foam tape.

I die cut several hollyhocks from the background i made, then arranged them on the base.  I didn't want to hide too much of the embossing so thought the hollyhocks ideal plus they are just coming into flower in the garden

I used a lovely sentiment stamp from clearly besotted that reads 'Sunshine is the best medicine', die cut it into an oval and added to the base with foam tape to finish.  We definitely have plenty of sunshine this week in Cornwall.

Just showing it stood up

I think you can just make out more of the shimmer from the pixie powders here, this one has a red tone when the light hits it.

Items Used:
Sizzix embossing folders #657398  & #657811
Crealies patchwork dies
IO hollyhock die
Clearly besotted sentiment stamps 'seasonal sentiments'
Distress ink shaded lilac
Brushos 'gambage'
Cosmic shimmer pixie powders 'mango blaze & scarlet mist'

Thank you all for stopping by. Do hop over to lets squash it to join in the fun.   I hope you all have a great week and are keeping cool. Emmax
