M is for Monkey

Good Morning all, i hope you are having a good week.

Its time for a new challenge over at Alphabet Challenge   with the theme being

M -MONKEY

So I dug out the Tim Holtz hipsters animals stamps and just my old brusho's.

I first made a background sheet with green and orange brushos and sprinkled in a little pixie powder, i then added lots of chunky sea salt and left to dry overnight.  It leaves this amazing pattern, this works better when the brusho's are really wet, if you add the salt when its beginning to dry you only get a slight pattern as the salt needs to draw the water into it to get the effect.

I die cut a Polaroid frame from white card, mounted it onto black card to frame.  I die cut the centre from my brusho card.  I then stamped and hand cut my monkey and added him to the frame.  I cut out a second head and decoupaged it with glue gel.  I kept the monkey white as i wanted him to stand out against the colourful background.  I just added some glossy accents to his glasses.

I added a panel of white mounted onto black onto the card base.  I added a panel of my background paper at a wonky angle and added the Monkey topper on top. Stamped sentiment and black enamel dots to finish.

Close up, you can really see the pattern the sea salt leaves.

Easter Fun - Hipster animals

Good Morning everyone, i hope you had a good weekend and not too much snow.

Its a new challenge at Make My Monday   The theme this time is

EASTER FUN

I decided to have fun with the Tim Holtz hipster animals and my wink of stella pens.

6x6 Teal cardblank.  I stamped the chic chick in black and coloured in with a mix of alchol pens for his outfit and then wink of stella for his feathers.  Glossy accents on his glasses.  Die cut into a wonky stitched circle.  Then mounted onto a teal card circle.  For the background i first computer printed the sentiment & then die cut into a square, embossed a larger wonky circle die so that it will frame the topper.  Then using ink splat stamps with distress ink i lightly stamped in a diagonal across the front just to add interest.

A little 'primrose' flower made up from yellow, lightly inked the centre in orange and a little glue dot centre.  A couple of die cut leaves to finish.

A close up of the chick, you can just about see the sparkle of the wink of stella pens.

A second version, this uses a little artistic license as you don't normally get ostrich's at Easter but i decided to colour her yellow and she could be a chick, duckling or maybe even a gosling or a hybrid!😀.
Made the same way as the first one just using a square topper instead.

Items Used:
Tim Holtz Hipster Animals stamps
Stampin up Gorgeous grunge stamps
Peacock distress ink
Wink of stella pens
Wonky Stitched circle and square dies
Sizzix flower dies

So please do pop over to MMM and see what the rest of the team came up with and also to see all the entries, always very inspiring.

I hope you all have a good week, thank you for stopping by. Emma

CAS Hipster Animals

Good Morning everyone, i hope you are having a good week and keeping warm.

Today im sharing my first outing of my new Tim Holtz Hipster Animals stamps.  Ive turned them into CAS male cards for the charity box.  I had originally planned to completely colour the image in but after making up the card thought they worked well left mostly white, just their outfits coloured in.

6x6 card size.  First stamp the image and add some colour, i used alcohol pens simply on the outfit and eyes, i added glossy accents to the spectacles. Then die cut into a wonky stitched circle.

I die cut a square and stamped the greeting, i then die cut an aperture slightly bigger than my topper, i then embossed the bigger size of wonky stitched circle around the aperture.  A cheats way if you don't have a set of in/out stitched dies! Then mounted onto blue card to match his outfit with foam pads.  I then added the topper again with foam pads.  The 'moat' around the topper just adds some interest to this simple design.

All 4 blue circle cards.

Below a green/square version

Made exactly the same as the blue ones just using wonky stitched squares and green outfits/card instead.

Just showing all 4 of the green ones.

Items used:
Tim Holtz Hipster Animals stamps
Clearly Besotted Sentiment stamps
MFT wonky stitched circle & square dies

Thank you all for stopping by for a peek.  Keep Warm. Emma
