Alice is 10 - cats & books

Good Morning everyone

My middle niece Alice is 10 this month.  She loves reading and cats so ive combined the two with these fab katzelkraft stamps and made a tri fold card which contains 2 bookmarks to Alice to use

The front of the card.  Its A4 folded 3 times so each section is 4x8.25" .  I stamped the cat images onto white card and coloured with alcohol markers.  I stamped the sentiment and then lightly stenciled on pawprints with cracked pistachio oxide ink, I then die cut into a panel and matted onto rainbow printed cardstock.

I founded a printed paper in my stash that had a subtle blue pattern, matted onto blue holographic and then the card front.  I tied a double bow from the 2 ribbons ive used on the bookmarks.

I used blue holographic for my mat layer as when the light hits it it is rainbow colours to tie in with the image and every girl loves a bit of sparkle.

Showing the card opened up.  I made the bookmarks the same way as the front topper, this rainbow card is double sided so looks as great on the back of the bookmark as the front.

I made pockets for the bookmarks using the same paper as the background and adding foam to the sides and bottom, leaving the top unstuck so the bookmark can slide in and out

So that when the bookmarks are removed it still looks good I stamped the cats a 2nd time, coloured in with alcohol markers and cut out, I adhered them to the pockets to line up with the bookmarks.

I doodled a line under the books with fineliner and shaded with grey alcohol marker to 'ground' the books and stop them floating in mid air

and the bookmarks front and back.  This rainbow card came in a pack from Lidl and is nice and stiff so ideal for bookmarks, I haven't laminated them as you know how childrens tastes change yearly but I know Alice will enjoy these bookmarks for as long as they do last.  I added stamped cats and pawprints to the back of the bookmarks for a little interest.  Punched a hole at the top and threaded with ribbons.

Items Used:
Katzelkraft cat stamp set
Creative craft stamps 'fur babies'
Clearly besotted birthday stamp 'something to say'
DL stitched edge dies
Pawprint stencil
Oxide ink 'cracked pistachio'
Alcohol markers
Rainbow cardstock from Lidl
Blue holographic card

Creative Creases Aug

Good Morning everyone

This is my 2nd post this morning, if the scheduling goes to plan

I am honoured once again to be Guest DT over at Creative Creases where anything goes with a fancy fold.

I decided to try one of the many fancy folds on my 'to try' list and make a hexagon pop up card.  After reading a few step by steps online I ended up using the one from beccys place as it was clear and easy to follow

Ive used 2 stamp sets, one leafy one from aall&create and a lovely quote from inkalicious and one ink pad which is an ombre one.

I first cut and folded the card from white linen cardstock.  Onto another piece of white I multiple stamped the leafy background stamp with an ombre ink which has lovely shades of green from lime through to a greeny blue. I then cut the panels out to fit the 6 sides of the base.  I die cut the rest of the leafy background sheet with a leafy sprig die.  Onto a white die cut circle I stamped the quote and then framed it with the die cut leaves

3 acetate butterflies to finish

Such a lovely quote... there is something very peaceful and calming about being surrounded by nothing but nature.  I love the effect of die cutting the leaves from the leafy background stamp, makes an interesting finish to them which is also softer than a solid colour would be.

On the back of the card I lined up a smaller white die cut circle with the one on the front and then added a smaller circle die cut from a pale paper for a place to write the greeting.  I also lined the inside panels with a green paper to give a more finished look.

Just showing it side on

and it folds completely flat for posting which is great.

Items Used
aall&create stamp #556 'leaves'
Inkilicious stamp 'forest quote'
CheeryLynn Foliage die
acetate butterflies (ebay find)
Kaleidacolor Ombre ink pad 'caribbean sea'
craftUk ltd 300gsm white linen card

So do hop over to Creative Creases challenge to see what everyone came up with and to join in - anything goes with a fancy fold.

I hope you all have a great weekend.  Big hugs Emmax

Hippedy Hop

Good Morning everyone

Today Im sharing a fun diamond fold card.  I had these rabbits left over from making my 80th farmer card....I also had a left over diamond folded card on my desk so decided to combine the two.

Size when closed 4x4", the middle diamond is approx 2.75"

I covered the middle and outside panels with a greeny blue wash effect paper and the small triangle side panels with a blue foliage paper, all from the scrap box.  The rabbits were stamped onto white card, watercoloured with inktense pencils and cut out.  I adhered 2 to the outside panels flat and the one on the diamond with glue gel for dimension.

I stamped the greetings, cut out and adhered.

The sentiment is on straight, think must have photographed at a slight angle as it looks wonky! lol

A simple but fun card.

Showing it open, I used pink dotty paper on the bigger triangle panels to pick up on the pink of the rabbits.

Showing it stood up from above

and the back, I used the same papers, the greeny one is pale enough to write my greetings on

Items Used:
Katzelkraft stamp set 'farm animals'
Creative expressions stamp set 'UMSDB179' - No bunny like you
Various patterned papers
Smooth white card
Derwent inktense pencils

Thank you all for stopping by.  I hope you all have a good week - looks like its going to be a hot one in the UK so I shall probably be hibernating and good excuse to craft - As I have to avoid the sun as much as possible I shall go out early morning and then in the evenings.  Hugs to you all. Farmers 80th

Good Morning everyone

My dads best mate is 80 this year so mum & dad wanted a card for him, being a retired farmer I had to dig out my old Katzelkraft farm animal stamps.

I've used a side stepper card die I bought over 12mths ago, but this is only the 2nd time Ive used it as the score lines aren't quite right so its a faff to get it folded right!

Card size A5 (approx 8x6")  I die cut the stepper card from white card and the mat layer from green patterned paper, i added a mat layer with chocolate brown mirror card as I also feel the gap for the die cut layers is too big.

I stamped the characters several times onto white card and watercoloured with derwent inktense pencils and cut out.  I then got arranging them onto the card with pinflair glue gel.

I die cut the birthday circle for the brown mirror card and the numerals and alpha's for 80th.  I matted the birthday circle onto a white circle, added a smaller circle die cut from the green paper to the centre and adhered the 80th into place and then added to the card front.

Sorry for the bad photos, my old camera died so Im still working on getting the settings right!  This shows it stood up more and the steps - which are ideal for getting so many characters on one card.

Like most farmers they never retire 100% and have a few animals around who are usually old and retired themselves so more like pets.

They all loved the card so thats good.  This photo shows the true colours better.

Items Used:
Katzelkraft stamps 'farm animals'
Creative craft products 'side stepper die'
MFT birthday circle sentiment die
Alpha & Numeral dies
Derwent inktence pencils
Hunkydory chocolate brown mirri card
Green paper

Thank you all for stopping by once again.  I hope you have a good week.

Kirsty's 40th Birthday

Good Morning everyone

Today Im sharing 2 cards I made for my Sister-in-laws 40th birthday.  This sis-in-law is hard to craft for as she doesn't really have any hobbies, interests or fav colours and with my mojo still being very sporadic these were hard going😀

6.5.5" card.  I made the fold with 2 sheets of white card.  I picked 3 patterned papers with a yellow and teal theme and on the front matted the floral paper onto the green one and added to the front.  I die cut the birthday sentiment from a yellow gold mirror card and white card, off set and adhered to a larger circle die cut from the teal paper.

Flower die cut from yellow paper I used on the inside and a large glittery gemstone added to finish.

On the inside, i covered all the outside panels with this lovely yellowy orange floral paper and the pop out sections with the teal paper.

Not having large number dies, I printed out a large 40 from my computer onto card, cut it out and used as a template to then cut the 40 from the gold mirror card and white card.

Here you can see i used the same paper as on the front for the side panels of the pop out book sections.

After adding the numbers, I decided they didn't look great - being hand cut, but also all the plain mirror was a bit too stark.  If i had thought about it before sticking them in I would have run them through an embossing folder.  I finally decided to use a small embossing ball tool and doodle a little swirl and dot pattern over the mirror card which made a big difference.  I also ran a large ball tool around all the edges which softened them and made them not look so wonky and 'hand cut'

and the back of the card - I added a white die cut circle to write the greeting in after using the same papers i used to decorate the front.

and onto the 2nd card I made for her

A5 white card base which i die cut using my nesting dies. I cut a piece of black and white patterned paper with the next size down and adhered.  I die cut 2 champagne glasses from a silver rainbow glitter card, I adhered with glue gel to the front and added a white die cut 4 & 0 to the glasses.

I added little strips of the glitter card across the top and bottom and a white die cut sentiment to finish.  Very simple but mojo was in hiding!

Trying to show how beautiful the glitter card is in real life, it is silver but when the light hits it at certain angles you get a rainbow of colours.  No idea where it came from as i was given it years ago - so about time i used it! lol  Unfortunately it sheds glitter which i do not like - I don't use glitter for that reason - its like sand and gets everywhere.

Items Used:
Spellbinder dies - aster flower
Memory box dies - champagne glass, numerals
Elizabeth crafts birthday sentiment die
? nesting dies, circle birthday sentiment die ?
Patterned papers - various pads from the works

Thank you all for stopping by once again. Emma
