Dad

Good Morning everyone

The 2nd card i made for my dads birthday is a building block fold using rat stamps from Katzelkraft which i teamed up with a pipe die to give the feel of them living among the pipes where its nice and warm for them😀

I made my base card from Kraft card and matted woodgrain paper onto green paper and then the base. I die cut the pipe die several times from gold satin cardstock and built it up over the card, i used one whole one in the middle and chopped up another for smaller pieces that i added on.

Screw heads die cut from orange mirri card and added to the corners

I watercoloured the rats with green and orange distress inks, cut out and arranged into place.

Showing it opening up, i used alpha dies on green paper and orange mirri card to spell out dad on one side of the block and die cut mini tools from the gold satin for the other side.  Die cut sentiment from more gold satin to finish

showing the other side of the blocks and panel

I had 3 rats left so made this card for my box

A5 kraft card base.  I die cut the pipes from a mat gold this time.  Sizzix birthday sentiment die cut from orange mirri card to finish.

Items Used:
Katzelkraft stamps 'ktz179' Les Rats des ville
pipe & tool dies
Spellbinders nuts & bolts die
Sizzix sentiment die
Papers from the works*
Kraft card
Distress Inks - twisted citron, rustic wilderness, wild honey, ripe persimmon

40th Birthday

Good Morning everyone.

My youngest brother is 40 tomorrow and these are the 2 cards i made for him, first one is another exploding insert card😊

7x7" white card base.  I started off by die cutting lots nuts, bolts & screw heads from scraps of mirror card in different colours.  I printed out the number 40 to size using my computer and cut them out so that i had a separate 4 & 0, I then used these to build on with all the nuts and bolts, over lapping them as i went.  I used pinflair glue gel for this as it sticks well to mirror card.

I cut a piece of grey happy birthday background and matted onto navy blue mirror card and then the base card.  I then added the numbers and a computer printed sentiment matted onto more navy blue mirror card and foam tape.  I added to screw head die cuts to the sentiment strip which were die cut from copper mirror card.

Here you can see the dimension of the built up numbers, I used silver & gold holographic, dark green, copper, chocolate & petrol coloured mirror cards, so it really dances and shimmers in the light but a nightmare to capture in the photos.

and the exploding insert I added.  I found a sheet of 12x12 paper with tools on in my stash which is ideal as he is an engineer.   Computer printed sentiments die cut into circles to finish and give a place to write my greeting.

Items Used:
Spellbinders dies 'nuts & bolts'
Circle dies
Papermania diy paper (very old)
Anna Marie designs birthday cardstock
Various mirror card snippets.

and card 2....Jack also loves to go camping with his family, so i found this fab lantern and camping gear die sets which are ideal.

5x7" card base made from acetate that has a tree and mountain scene foiled in silver so i thought was the ideal backdrop.  I took a sheet of pale blue paper for my insert and added some green ink to the bottom and soft clouds to the top to help add to my back scene.

I die cut the lantern and pieces from kraft card and inked all the edges with vintage photo to give a more rustic feel.  I then die cut all the scene pieces of scraps of brusho'd cardstock for my sky, grass and trees and then white card for the sign post, tent & fire which i then coloured with alcohol pens.  I used yellow & orange fine liner pens to doodle in the sun....of course the sun always shines when they are camping😁

I then attached the lantern to the card front. Computer printed sentiment onto kraft card and die cut into an inverted scallop, inked with lemonade oxide ink around the edges.

just a close up, i doodled in some little tufts of grass with a green fine liner pen

and onto the back of the card...

...I decided to do a night time scene as well, as the foiled scene on the acetate has a little moon.   I used the same dies to build up my scene but found a more night sky feel paper scrap which was the ideal backdrop

Just a close up of my night scene.

Items Used:
Lantern Die
Camping die set
memory box Tree line die
Spellbinders inverted scallop die
Hunkydory foiled acetate
Oxide inks tumbled glass, lucky clover, evergreen bough, chipped sapphire
Alcohol markers
Kraft card

I hope you all have a great weekend.  Hugs to you all. Emmax

Male DIY Birthday card

Good Morning everyone

My mojo is slowly returning after my little 'op' the other week, nothing too strenuous yet so i used a sketch and made a very simple Male Birthday card.  I used papers all from the same paper pad and paired them with some kraft card.

6x6 Kraft card base.  I then fully covered the front with a green paper from the pad. I cut up one of the papers which had printed rulers on it and used 4 of the 'rulers' and criss crossed them.  Then then die cut the birthday circle from wood effect paper and mounted onto 2 more plain papers and mounted with foam tape.

I then decided to die cut some tools from kraft card, inked the handles with ages mahogany distress ink and arranged on the front.  I die cut 4 screw tops from kraft card and mounted in the corners of the card to finish.

Just a close up.

This is the sketch i used.

Items Used:

6x6 paper pad( I think its a My Minds Eye one but lost the cover)
Memory box birthday circle die
Tool dies
Distress Ink - aged mahogany
CraftUk ltd Kraft card

Thank you all for stopping by once again.  I hope you all have a good week whatever your plans.  I can't believe its now the school holidays, the weeks seem to be flying past this year. Hugs Emmax

Steampunk

Good Morning everyone, i hope you had a good weekend.

Today im sharing my first post after being invited to join the design team for
the cardz4guyz challenge blog.  As most of you know i make alot of male cards so quite enjoy making them.

The theme this fortnight is

Science-Fiction Or Steampunk

both are a bit of a challenge for me, after searching all my stash I found these steampunk digi images as the starting point.

7x7 White cardblank.  I first designed the background using serif craft artist & the digi kit by daisytrail 'Steampunk Emporium'  I cut this into a square and mounted onto Navy blue cardstock and then the base.

I then printed the crow off twice and decoupaged him, i added a die cut hat and some glossy accents to him.  I die cut cogs from silver mirror card and added a touch of blue paint to them, to tone down the silver and tie in with the blue in the crow.  A couple of bolts cut from orange mirror card, these i used a permanent pen on to tone the colour down, add the pen wait a little for it to start drying and then rub off - gives a nice aged effect on mirror card.

I added a metal word band with screw top brads to finish.  It says ;
'Possibility begins with imagination'

A close up.

Items Used:
Serif Craft Artist
Daisytrail 'Steampunk emporium' (discontinued)
Cheerylynn cog dies
Spellbinders 'nuts & bolts' die S2-288
Hat die - unknown
Tim Holtz ideology word band
Screw top brads
Glossy Accents

So if you fancy joining in and see what the rest of the design team and entrants come up with do hop over to cardz4guyz

Thank you for stopping by, i hope you all have a good week and the sun shines on you all. Emma

Male Birthday cards

Good Morning..

Today im sharing 2 male cards i made, once again i used alcohol inks on silver mirror card, its a nightmare to take decent photo of it though.  The finished effect is brilliant.

6x5.5" white cardblank.  I then embossed a piece of silver mirror card and used purple, blue & green shades of alcohol ink on a blending pad to colour it.  I then cut it into 3 panels and mounted onto grey pearl card and added to the card base.  This embossing folder from spellbinders is actually 5x7" so on cutting up the sections i used the label section to add my sentiment.

I die cut various cogs from white card and layered up with 'screw tops' die cut from silver mirror card.

This 2nd card is made the same way but mounted on a black 6x5.5" card base instead.

Close up trying but not really succeeding in showing the colour better!

Items Used:
Spellbinders Mbossibilities folder - EL-017 Industrial
Spellbinders De-lites 'S2-228 - Nuts & Bolts'
Cheerylynn cog dies
Ranger Tim Holtz Alcohol inks
Birthday sentiment die
