Fluttering butterflies

Good Morning everyone

My 4th niece Kitty-Bea will be 5 this week - thats scary where the years go, I got to spend some lovely time with her and her sister last week for half term and they are getting so grown up.

For Kitty-bea's card from my parents ive gone for full on butterflies with a surprise hiding inside with a spiral pop up design

6x6" white cardbase.  I picked a paper with subtle rainbow hues for the front and die cut lots and lots of butterflies from patterned papers in a rainbow of colours.  Die cut the birthday sentiment and 5 today from white card matted onto gold glitter card circles and then arranged the butterflies.  I added a touch of glitter glue to the butterfly bodies.

and inside.....I actually did the inside first and then decorated the front.  I used panels from the same soft rainbow hued paper.  I then die cut a circle from acetate Id saved from some plastic packaging.   I then used scissors to cut a spiral into the middle of the circle.  Using red liner tape I attached one end of the acetate spiral to one side of the card, once that was secure i added red liner tape to the other end and closed the card onto it, doing it this way meant it was lined up perfectly so closed nicely without catching.

I added large die cut gold glitter flowers over the ends of the acetate spiral to hide the glue and help keep them in place, i added a few more of the gold flowers around the panels.

I then arranged the butterflies onto the acetate spiral, gluing 2 back to back so that they clamped the acetate between them and looked nice from all angles.  I added lots of little butterflies and some flat orange gems to the centres of the flowers.

Computer printed sentiment die cut into an oval to write the greeting on to finish.

You can see the flying butterflies better here

Not having made anything like this before i was rather pleased with the effect and i think Kitty-Bea will have hours of fun opening and closing it

Fabulous friend

Good Morning everyone

In my stash busting this year i decided to use some double sided adhesive sheets ive had for eons.  I used them with sizzix biodegradable glitter - which im very impressed with.  I don't 'do' glitter normally but this doesn't seem to go everywhere like synthetic and unlike other biodegradable ones ive tried it is really shimmery which sadly the photos don't pick up.

I first attached one side of the sticky sheet to cardstock, then die cut the floral panel from white card and attached to the other side of the double sided sticky sheet.  I then paper pieced back in the white background pieces and coloured the leaves with oxide inks before also piecing back into place.  I then added the black glitter to the flowers, burnishing it well.  I then mounted onto card inked with the oxide inks i used for the leaves, black card and then the white base card.
I stamped the sentiment and die cut into a fishtail banner, 2 vellum die cut circles, i inked the smaller one with the green oxide inks.  Die cut butterfly to finish.  Lilac gems used to the flower centres to finish.
I made a portrait and landscape version.

and a portrait version

Whats more summery than flowers and butterflies - the butterflies have certainly been enjoying all this sunshine this week

Close up trying to show the shimmer of the glitter.

Pink fresh ornate floral die
Sizzix butterfly dies
Wonky stitched circle dies
MFT fishtail banner die

Thank you all for stopping by once again.  I hope you are keeping cool.  One thing the heat seems to have brought my mojo back😁    Hugs Emmaxxx

Kraft Poppies

Good Morning everyone

This kraft card had beautiful printed poppies on it so i decided to colour them in.  It was an old paper pad from B&M called vintage baroque

Card approx 6.5x6.5"..  I coloured the poppies with Derwent inktense pencils and used a grey alcohol marker for the background.  I die cut with my spellbinders grand labels 1.  I then used a smaller scalloped labels 1 and die cut 2 panels from the middle of this piece.  I die cut a larger fancy labels 1, and then attached the outside of my poppy panel with foam tape, then the middle size i added back in glued flat and the very middle piece i added on foam tape again, making sure the pattern lines up each time  - i did this just to add some interest to my poppy panel.   I stamped the sentiment on a smaller kraft square and added with foam tape to the middle.

Butterflies die cut from kraft card with a gem centre to finish. I then die cut the largest grand label1 from kraft card, folded this is half to act as my cardbase and then attached  the poppy panel.

Showing it side on and how it stands up.  You can also make out my layers in the poppies better here.

Gatefold Sunflowers

Good Morning everyone

So while making my sunflower edger cards i thought you could turn them into a gatefold design.

Card size approx.6x10"..  Using soft gold pearl cardstock i die cut 2 sunflower panels, i then cut a piece of soft gold pearl card to size for the main section of the card, i scored and folded the edge of the sunflower panels and then adhered them to the middle panel.  I took a contrasting patterned paper and lined the inside, this also hid the joins on the card.  I added colour to the sunflowers using oxide inks.
I die cut some butterflies - soft gold for the inside and using the same paper i lined the inside for the 2 butterflies on the front.  Lots of gems & glitter glue to embellish.

Showing it stood up side on

I added a panel to the back of the card to write my greeting on, i used the same paper i lined the card with.

Sizzix butterfly dies

Sunflowers Galore

Good Morning everyone.

Today is a batch of cards using my first creative expressions paper cuts die - sunflower edger - I LOVE it!  Im also on a mission this year to use up some of the tonne of coloured cardstock ive amassed over the years as since making my own backgrounds i don't tend to use it - i also think its been breeding in the dark of the cupboard😁

6x6" Kraft card after folding my kraft card i die cut the sunflowers from the front edge.  I added starlight paints to the sunflower details so they shimmer.  For this card i decided to use it landscape although i know its supposed to be portrait. I added a yellow insert which protects the fine edge of the sunflower and lets the card stand up.  I stamped the sentiment on an offcut of kraft card and layered onto an offcut of the yellow paper i used for the insert and attached. Glitter dots to embellish and some stamped bees.

Showing it front on

and onto different colour combos
Version 2 made the same way but portrait with a soft gold pearl cardstock and purple paper insert. Green glitter glue to the flower centres and a butterfly to finish.  The clearly besotted sentiment stamps i had fit perfectly into the middle of some simon says stamps sentiments i had - using a stamp platform i could line them up together easily, die cut into a circle to finish.

Soft gold pearl cardstock, i added a little colour to the sunflowers with oxide inks.  Pink gloss drops to embellish and a little stamped bee

Another landscape version with bright gold pearl cardstock and a black insert

Ivory pearl cardstock, i added colour to the flowers with oxide inks - yep now we have purple/pink sunflowers😁  Big gems added to the centres.

A Cube Birthday

Happy New Year Everyone
Lots hope things soon start to improve.  I hope you enjoyed Christmas as much as was possible.   I was thoroughly spoilt with craft goodies - especially stamps so lots to keep me entertained for a while.

Today is a card for my mums best friends birthday in December.  She loves her flowers/garden so i dug out these beautiful toppers from my stash and not being able to decide which ones to use i decided to make a cube card for 4 seasons. It folds flat for posting.

I made my cube out of 300gsm chocolate pearlised card, each side is 5.5x5.5" in size so it took 2 pieces of A4 card.  After cutting each piece to 5.5" i then scored along the length at 5.5" and joined the 2 pieces together lengthwise to form a cube.

I matted my toppers onto chocolate pearl card and a die cut white card square, added foam tape to the back and attached to the sides.  I went with the chocolate cardstock to pick up the colours in the toppers which are soft.

Die cut sentiment.  Butterflies die cut from lilac and lemon cardstock - again picking up the colours in the toppers.  Glitter glue highlights to finish.

Having the different images on each side it can be turned around for a different view each time

Showing it from above - i added a chocolate pearl paper insert inside to write the greeting - using the same paper as the box means it doesn't ruin the overall 'look'

the insert opens upwards so easy to access

and finally showing it flat for posting.  The recipient loved it so thats good and its always good using up very old stash!

Items Used:
Toppers -  Creative Crafting World 'Malcolm Greensmith'
Tattered lace eyelet square dies
Birthday sentiment die
Sizzix butterfly die
Pearlised Chocolate card - payper box
White card - craftUK ltd
Stickles glitter glue - diamond & gold

Thank you all for stopping by.  I hope you have a good week and all keep safe and well. Hugs Emmax

Flower Power

Morning everyone, i hope you enjoyed the weekend.

Today is 3 cards made using the same flower die and a pink/purple mirror card I made with alcohol inks - what a nightmare getting decent photos with all the mirror card! I used plum, slate, twilight & denim TH alcohol inks on gold mirror card.

4.5x5.5" card - I die cut the floral die from navy card, my plum mirror card and a teal paper.  I attached the frame to a piece of white card which was slightly bigger and then inlayed the flowers and leaves.  I die cut the happy birthday from my plum mirror card, attached to a white frame, added a butterfly to the centre - adding a little glitter glue to the butterfly to finish.

Version 2 used a plum mirror card frame, gold mirror card flowers and the teal paper leaves on a white card.

Version 3 used a gold frame, the plum mirror card flowers and a light teal for the leaves.  This frame is great as you can use it any way up.  The photos really don't do my plum mirror card justice, even using my photo light box taking photos of mirror card is a nightmare!

Items Used:
Pink Fresh die 'ornate floral'
MFT birthday circle die
Sizzix butterfly die
Spellbinders circle dies
Tim Holtz alcohol inks - plum, twilight, denim, slate
Gold mirror card
Patterned paper
CraftUK ltd white linen card
Payper box navy card
Stickles glitter glue.

Thank you all for stopping by, i hope you all have a good week. Stay safe. Emmaxx
