Mermaid shutter cards

Good Morning everyone

Today im sharing 2 mermaid shutter cards.  I was given this fab quirky mermaid stamps by funky fossil stamps and decided to team them up with my funky fossil weird fish stamps.

I used my tattered lace A4 shutter card die set for the base and die cut panels from sea themed paper. I stamped the mermaids and fish,  coloured them with alcohol markers, added glossy accents to the eyes and cut them out. I then got arranging them on the base with pinflair glue gel.  Stamped the sentiments from the mermaid set, cut them up, inked the edges and added.

I took the starfish printed paper and overstamped it with the puns from the stamp set with a green/blue ink. I stenciled areas with a glossy medium and scales stencil to add more interest to the background.

You can just make out the glossy stencilling behind the starfish here, when the light hits it, it is really shiny.
and the back of the card, another paper from the water themed pad from the works called 'fresh feelings'    I added a white panel to the middle to write the greeting on.

Sophie & Lizzy's birthdays

Good Morning everyone.

Today im sharing birthday cards i made for my nieces, Sophie was 11 on friday and Lizzy was 9 on monday, as always Ive made 2 cards, one from myself and one for my parents to give.

A4 Tri-fold stepper card made for Sophie.  She loves her fashion and I found a lovely girly paper in my stash that was perfect, i picked up on the tones in the paper and matted with a copper satin card which really dances when the light hits it.  I used 2 very old KennyK toppers from hobby house and cut the girls out.  I mounted one onto a white die cut oval and then the front panel and the 2nd girl onto the back panel.

I die cut Sophie's name and age from the copper satin card & adhered to the panels, i drew around the alphas once glued down with a dark brown fine liner pen to help them stand out a bit better.  Computer printed sentiment in brown ink added to the middle panel.  As Sophie loves her bling i added large coffee colour pearls to the top right and bottom left corners to finish.

Showing it side on.

I used a tattered lace shutter die set which comes with all the mat layer dies too so great for a pretty quick card.  The paper came from an old make&create pad from the works

Card 2 for Sophie is again using an old tattered lace die set, it makes super tiny diamond fold cards so i lined up the die a 2nd time to make it a double diamond pop out - finished size approx 5x5"  Very old bobunny papers 'Isabella' in grey and pink so i used a pearl grey cardstock for my base.  Butterflies are an old spellbinders dies cut from dark pink card for their base and one of the plainer papers from the pad.

I die cut the sentiment and Sophie from dark pink and silver mirri cards and did a drop shadow with the pink to help them stand out and added to the side panels.  Gems added to the butterflies to finish.

and showing the back of the card, i used paler papers on the side panels so could write the greeting.  Computer printed sentiments die cut into circles for the middle sections.

Lizzy's cards
More old stash in use - old presscut stepper die for the base cut from white card and then i found a paper to match the topper and added the panels.  The topper is another old one from hobbyhouse - they come pre-coloured.  I cut it to size, rounded the corners and added with foam tape.
Sentiment and alpha's die cut from purple mirri card, lilac gems and glitter glue highlights added to finish.

Yep -you've guess it, another very old die set! Its good to dig out old dies again.  A Sizzix flip it set.  I die cut the base from white card and the panels from a fab pink & teal paper that came a few years ago from B&M.  I computer printed the sentiments onto white card and die cut into circles and added to the flip section.   Die cut spellbinders fairy dies from teal glitter card and gave them vellum wings, these i added to the base, 2 to the front and one on the back.  Die cut butterflies from gold holographic card to finish.

Showing the front opened up

and the back of the card, i left a space on the left to write the greeting.

I hope you all have a good week, the countdown is on now, as crafters we plan for Christmas for months but it still seems to arrive quickly.  Big hugs. Emmaxxx

Swimming with the fishes

Good Morning everyone

Today is a fun shutter card using funky fossils weird fish stamps and mouse diver stamp from pink ink

A4 stepper card die cut using an old tattered lace die, an underwater paper matted onto silver holographic card.  I then stamped lots of fish & the diver and watercoloured with oxide inks and cut out.  I then got arranging them on the panels along with seaweed and shells i had left over from previous projects.   I added glossy accents to the eyes of the fish and goggles and oxygen tanks on the diver. The 'sea la vie' sentiment stamp came with the mouse which i stamped onto white card and cut around.

Touches of glitter glue to finish.

I had great fun creating this scene.

Tattered lace tri fold shutter card die set
Funky fossil stamps 'weird fish'
Pink ink stamps 'diver mouse'
The works 12x12 paper pad 'feeling fresh'

Sunflower shutter card

Good Morning everyone

Today im sharing my sunflowers for Ukraine card after seeing several inspiring posts in blogland recently.  Gecko galz are selling beautiful sunflower digital images on etsy here to help raise funds.

I knew i wanted to try and use as many of the images on my card as i could so decided a tri fold shutter would be a good base, i dug out my neglected tattered lace shutter die set and got cutting. I printed out the sheets in A4 & A5 to give me a choice of sizes of the images.

I die cut my base from soft cream pearl cardstock that has a gold shimmer in it to pick up on the gold of the sunflowers.  I die cut the smaller mat layers from blue cardstock and then various sunflower images for each of the smaller panels.  For the 2 bigger ends i found a yellowy/orange printed paper that went with the sunflowers perfectly.

For the front panel i trimmed the lovely sun rays over a sunflower field and mounted onto cream pearl card, then the blue card and mounted to the front with foam tape for a bit of dimension.

As i didn't want to use too much other than the printed sunflowers instead of die cut flowers to embellish I fussy cut out various sunflowers from the toppers and arranged on the front and back panels.

After a while i decided on a die cut 'hello sunshine'  as the sentiment as the sun brightens the darkness with the sign of hope

Showing it from the right hand side

Close up of the topper.  I added just a touch of diamond glitter to the centre of the front sunflower

Close up of left side, i added a bit of shape to the front flower heads and attached with glue gel for a bit of dimension.  My printer ink was running out so some printed out in a different tone but actually turned out ideal to add depth tone for layering up the different flowers.

and the back of the card, i die cut the yellow/orange paper for each panel and a smaller rectangle of the cream pearl for the centre to write my greeting in.  Attached flower offcuts from the toppers i cut up for the front of the card.

Items Used:
Geckogalz  sunflowers for ukraine digi images
Tattered lace A4 tri fold shutter die set
Hello sunshine die - brand?
Yellow/orange paper - the works
Cream pearl cardstock
Blue cardstock
Ranger stickles 'diamond'

Thank you all for stopping by.  I hope its a positive week for you all.  Hugs Emmaxx

Floral Shutter Birthday card

Good Morning everyone.

Today im sharing a shutter card  i made for a friends 70th birthday.  I went with purple as the main colour as i know she loves purple and lots of flowers.

A4 Shutter card, made from white card and tattered lace shutter die set.  I first die cut lots of flowers from a sheet of kraft card covered with purple foiled swirls & purple mirri card. I then shaped and glued the flower layers together to build up lots of dimension.  I also die cut lots of foliage from green inked card.

From white card i cut panels to fit the card front and dry embossed them, well actually debossed as i liked the look of it, i added a touch of green pen and then green glitter to the debossed flower centres.  I went with green as a contrast to all the purple.  I inked around the edges with purple distress ink and attached to the card front.

I computer printed my sentiment in purple and black and die cut into an oval, inked the edges with purple ink and lots of purple glitter dots around the edge - i know she LOVES her glitter.  I then arranged my flowers and foliage.  Gold gems to finish my flowers.

Showing it from a slightly different angle

This shows the purple foiled kraft card better and the true colour.

Just showing the card from above when its stood up on display.

and as many of you know i also like to add detail to the back of my cards.  Here i used a pale purple paper so could easily write my greeting on it and 3 purple cats as she also loves her cats and this is my 3 furry gals - Tilly leader of the gang, Jess following the leader and little Suki being naughty😀

items used:
Tattered lace shutter die set
Daisy flower die set
Cat die set
Foliage die set
Spellbinders Mbossilities folder
B&M Vintage Baroque foiled kraft card pad
B&M Memory lane paper pad
Chocolate box purple mirri card
Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink
Wink of Stella Purple pen
Stickles green, purple

Thank you for stopping by once again.  I hope you all have a good weekend, not sure of my plans yet, will see what the weather brings. Hugs Emma
