Floral exploding gatefold

Good Morning everyone

After making a christmas exploding gatefold card I decided to make some floral ones, again using the beautiful make & create 12x12 paper pads from the works, also a good way to use some of my coloured cardstock which im still on a mission to use up!

Card size approx 6x6"  I first picked the papers I wanted to use and then found matching cardstock to go with them.  I scored both the paper and the cardstock and adhered together, I found it easier to glue one side first and then fold the insert into its finished position and then adhered the second side by closing it down onto the insert.

I wrapped co-ordinating ribbon around the whole card, leaving it long enough to tie closed.  I die cut a circle from the same base cardstock and paper and glued to the left front side of the card, capturing the ribbon underneath.   A die cut butterfly and gems on its body and the top right and bottom left corners of the card front to finish.

On the inside i took an old 'hello sunshine' die and cut from the orange card and matted onto a yellow circle.  I added a panel of less patterned paper to the back of the card to write my greeting on which also hides the glue used to attach the ribbon.

Version 2, I used a birthday sentiment die in the middle and a flower die cut from vellum for the front.  Photo shows the card closed and then once you open it up

Version 3, i used cream pearl cardstock for the base, spellbinders labels 1 for my front topper panel.

Version 4, back to a vellum flower

and version 5.   Using these pretty papers has brightened cold winter days and its been good to dig into the ribbon box too.

I followed this simple template on pinterest https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/510736414003899933/

Items Used:
Make&create papers from the works 'watercolour feelings' 'vintage floral'
Studio light 'just lou' butterfly dies (STENCILJL18)
Birthday circle die
Flower dies
Spellbinders labels 1
wonky stitched circle dies

Thank you for stopping by and all your lovely comments on my last project.  I hope you all enjoy the end of the week and weekend.  Hugs Emmax

40th Birthday

Good Morning everyone.

My youngest brother is 40 tomorrow and these are the 2 cards i made for him, first one is another exploding insert card😊

7x7" white card base.  I started off by die cutting lots nuts, bolts & screw heads from scraps of mirror card in different colours.  I printed out the number 40 to size using my computer and cut them out so that i had a separate 4 & 0, I then used these to build on with all the nuts and bolts, over lapping them as i went.  I used pinflair glue gel for this as it sticks well to mirror card.

I cut a piece of grey happy birthday background and matted onto navy blue mirror card and then the base card.  I then added the numbers and a computer printed sentiment matted onto more navy blue mirror card and foam tape.  I added to screw head die cuts to the sentiment strip which were die cut from copper mirror card.

Here you can see the dimension of the built up numbers, I used silver & gold holographic, dark green, copper, chocolate & petrol coloured mirror cards, so it really dances and shimmers in the light but a nightmare to capture in the photos.

and the exploding insert I added.  I found a sheet of 12x12 paper with tools on in my stash which is ideal as he is an engineer.   Computer printed sentiments die cut into circles to finish and give a place to write my greeting.

Items Used:
Spellbinders dies 'nuts & bolts'
Circle dies
Papermania diy paper (very old)
Anna Marie designs birthday cardstock
Various mirror card snippets.

and card 2....Jack also loves to go camping with his family, so i found this fab lantern and camping gear die sets which are ideal.

5x7" card base made from acetate that has a tree and mountain scene foiled in silver so i thought was the ideal backdrop.  I took a sheet of pale blue paper for my insert and added some green ink to the bottom and soft clouds to the top to help add to my back scene.

I die cut the lantern and pieces from kraft card and inked all the edges with vintage photo to give a more rustic feel.  I then die cut all the scene pieces of scraps of brusho'd cardstock for my sky, grass and trees and then white card for the sign post, tent & fire which i then coloured with alcohol pens.  I used yellow & orange fine liner pens to doodle in the sun....of course the sun always shines when they are camping😁

I then attached the lantern to the card front. Computer printed sentiment onto kraft card and die cut into an inverted scallop, inked with lemonade oxide ink around the edges.

just a close up, i doodled in some little tufts of grass with a green fine liner pen

and onto the back of the card...

...I decided to do a night time scene as well, as the foiled scene on the acetate has a little moon.   I used the same dies to build up my scene but found a more night sky feel paper scrap which was the ideal backdrop

Just a close up of my night scene.

Items Used:
Lantern Die
Camping die set
memory box Tree line die
Spellbinders inverted scallop die
Hunkydory foiled acetate
Oxide inks tumbled glass, lucky clover, evergreen bough, chipped sapphire
Alcohol markers
Kraft card

I hope you all have a great weekend.  Hugs to you all. Emmax

Exploding insert birthday cards

Good Morning everyone

I hope you all had a lovely festive season and wishing you all a Happy & Healthy 2023.

After making my exploding insert Christmas cards, I decided to make a batch of birthday cards too, the 12x12 paper pads from the works are ideal for these as they are double sided.

Card size 6x5.5" .  I first made the exploding inserts and attached to the inside.  I then cut patterned paper to fit the front of my card and used an old memory box circle burst die and cut into the top middle of the panel.  I added gold mirror card to the card base behind where the circle aperture will be and attached the paper panel to the card with foam tape.  I glued the circlar piece back into place with glue so that is flat, the gold mirror then shines through nicely.

I stamped my greeting and die cut into circles and mounted in the middle with more foam tape.  Glitter glue highlights to the paper to finish.  Irises are one of my fav flowers so i just love this paper
Make & Create (the works) paper pad 'hummingbirds' for front and insert

and the insert, using a paper with a smaller version of the irises.  I computer printed my verse onto white card and die cut into an oval, a 2nd die cut oval added to the bottom panel to write the greeting on.

Version 2  again after doing the insert first i picked a co-ordinating paper for the front and used a soft satin gold behind.  I cut out extra flowers from the paper i used on the insert to decorate the card front.

and the insert

Version 3.  Ive matted the papers onto a turquoise glitter card which picks up the blues in the paper.  The butterflies were die cut from off cuts of the papers as most of the papers in this paper pad have solid colours on the back.  I added pearls to the butterfly bodies to finish

Version 4 using the same paper pad as the first card, the paper i used for the insert has small hummingbirds among the irises, another paper in the pad has extra large hummingbirds so i cut the large on out for the front of the card, pink mirror card behind.   I added a strip of irises paper across the bottom to break up all the pink.    I added glossy accents to the birds beak and eye and glitter glue to his wings

and the insert

This version i made for a good craft friend.  I found the cherryblossom paper in an old pad for the insert and then going through all my 6x6 pads found a smaller cherry blossom for the front.  Matted onto gold mirror card and then the base card is black pearl.

Oriental stamps came free with a magazine many years ago, stamped onto white and cut out.  I found leaving them uncoloured they stood out better.

and the insert.  Insert paper from make&create paper pad 'vintage floral'

I actually managed to make 10 variants, most of them have already gone to new homes.

Items Used:
Memory box circle burst die
Studio Light butterfly dies
circle & oval dies
Patterned Papers
Oriental stamps
Clearly besotted Sentiment stamps

Thank you all for stopping by.  Im looking forward to another 12 months of crafting.  Hugs Emmax

Gatefold explosion card

Good Morning everyone

My final Christmas card is one Ive made for my parents.  I used a gorgeous paper pad from the works called 'let it snow'

I found a gatefold explosion card template on pinterest and adapted to make a 7x6" card from a sheet of A3 white cardstock.  I made the exploding insert from one of the double sided papers in the pad and adhered inside.  I then used the same paper for the 2 front panels.  I took a piece of blue ribbon and attached to the back of the card, making sure it was long enough to tie up, I then covered the back panel with another paper to hide the ribbon.

The paper pad has 6" square toppers of these lovely winter scene but i die cut one with a double stitched rectangle die as it suited my card better, i matted it onto a larger rectangle die cut from silver holographic card.

Working on the front of the card, I brought the ribbon around the left hand side and held in place with tape - making sure it would be hidden under my topper!  I then added the topper to the left hand panel with foam tape.  The ribbon then ties in a bow to the right of the card to close it.

I die cut 2 snowflakes, one from silver mirror card and one from silver glitter card, but the glitter card has more of a soft lilac tone which picks up on the lilac in the topper perfectly.  I offset the snowflakes and added to the top left with glue gel and added a large gem.  Glitter glue highlights added to the topper scene to finish.

Showing it opening up...

and it open.
This paper has a lovely lilac snowfall patterned on the back so i cut a piece to mat into the middle of the exploding pop out.  Sentiment die cut from silver holographic card.  To help it stand out a bit more i went around the die cut with a blue fine liner.  I also backed my topper panel with the same paper so that it all looks neat and tidy from the inside too.

Just showing the back, I used a paler paper from the set so i can write on it.

Items Used:
12x12 paper pad from the works 'let it snow'
Double stitched rectangle dies
Snowflake die
CraftsUk Ltd smooth white card A3
SIlver holographic card
Silver glitter card
Ranger stickles 'diamond'

Thank you all for stopping by.  I hope its a good week for you.  Keep warm.  Emmax

Hope this brightens your day...

Good Morning everyone

I wanted to make a card for my uncle whos having grueling treatment.  Id decided i wanted to do an exploding insert so started with deciding on a paper for that, I picked one with wild flowers with the idea of a meadow for my aall&create fox stamp.

6x5.5" white card base.  I first folded and added my insert (see pic below).  I then stamped the fox onto white cardstock twice, one i die cut with spellbinders labels 1 die and lightly inked the edges with salty ocean and evergreen distress inks.  On the 2nd fox stamped image i watercoloured the fox with wild honey & vintage photo distress inks and the flowers i added a colour with shaded lilac, i cut out the fox and the 2 smaller flowers and decoupaged onto my main image.  I matted this onto spellbinders fancy label 1 die cut from rose gold satin card.

I used off cuts from the paper i used for my insert and added down the left and right edge of the card front and mounted my topper with foam tape.  Computer printed sentiment mounted onto rose gold satin card and then the base with glue gel.  Glossy accents added to the foxes glasses to finish.

and showing the insert.  I computer printed my sentiment and die cut into an oval and added a plain oval to the bottom to write my greeting on.

Items Used:
aall&create stamps 'in the wild'
12x12 paper pad from the works 'botanical garden'
Spellbinders grand labels 1 & fancy grand labels 1
Stitched oval dies
Distress inks
Crafters companion rose gold satin card
CraftsUk ltd white cardstock
Ranger glossy accents

Exploding insert Christmas cards

Good Morning everyone

Today is Christmas cards using a beautiful paper pad from a Polish company called 'paper heaven' pad called 'swiateczna girlanda' , i teamed them up with very old spellbinders bauble & poinsettia dies and added an exploding insert made using 12x12 Christmas paper pads from the works.

6x6" base card.   I first die cut the bauble and memory box collage die (one with little holes) from the centre of the paper, i then adhered gold mirror card to the card base front and added the outer frame of the paper with foam tape, i then adhered the bauble back in place, glued in flat, allowing the mirror card to shine though the holes from the collage die.  I then die cut a poinsettia and added to the centre of the bauble and die cut sentiment to finish.

For my exploding inserts i took a sheet of double sided 12x12" paper and folded using instructions from pinterest and glued into place.  Computer printed sentiment die cut into a bauble and a plain white paper bauble added to write our greeting on.

Trying to photograph it was interesting - hence my little light trying to hold it open, it does pop right out to easily write the greeting.

Showing it side on with the insert.

Version 2
This time instead of gold mirror card i used a rose gold glitter card that went well with the colours in the beautiful paper.

Version 3
The same but different, gold glitter card behind the holey apertures.  I added glossy accents to all the berries on the papers.

and the insert.  Id not left enough room around the printed sentiment to die cut into a bauble this time, so i die cut it into an oval and matted onto a gold glitter bauble.

I used this tutorial for my insert from Beccys Place blog as it was easy to follow with clear written instructions but more importantly for me clear photo step by step.  Actually its a lovely blog to take a look at when you have a minute - especially the a-z card folds page.
(I have no affiliation with the blog)

Items Used:
Paper Heaven pad 'swiateczna girlanda (christmas garland)
the works 12x12 paper pads 'classic christmas party' & the best time of the year'
Spellbinders dies 'poinsettia' bauble'
  Memory box 'collage die'
Cheerylynn sentiment die
crafters companion self adhesive glitter paper
gold mirror card

Thank you all for stopping by once again.  I hope you all have a great week. Emmax
