June WLS #2 - Sports and hobbies

 Good Morning everyone

Time for some mid month inspiration for We Love Stamping Where the theme is

SPORTS & HOBBIES

Once again I've gone down the hobbies route and this time a masculine card.  The men in my family have hobbies including wood and metal work and one brother likes nothing better than tinkering with engines and building things out of metal - he's made some amazing sculptures over the years out of scrap metal, nuts, bolts, cogs and old cutlery and dad can fix pretty much anything which is very useful! This card is ideal for both my dad and brother.  The stamping is the background.

Card size 6x6"

See last photo for how i made my stamped cog background.

I then die cut the offset scalloped edge die from the front of the card - with the spine at the top so tent fold.  I then die cut the cog background to fit and a matt of black card, adhering to the front ensuring that the scalloped edge lined up each time.

As you cut a piece off the front of the card you can see inside of the card so to this i added more black card and cog design so that when the card is closed it is part of the design - photos below show this better.

I inked up a scrap of white card with the same blue and green distress inks used for the background and then die cut my alphas to spell 'Mr Fix It' matted onto white and then black card.  Cogs die cut from snippets of silver and blue mirror card and the screwdriver and spanners die cut from dark green mirror card scraps and then all arranged in a cascade down the front of the card, some flat and some with glue gel.

Showing the card stood up open, the point at the front holds it up nicely.

Showing it side on

And from the opposite side.

and onto my stamped background

My stamped cog background
I started with A4 white cardstock and this cog stamp. This is an A7 (4.1x2.9") stamp so i stamped it multiple times in black rotating it as i went so they weren't all facing the same way.  Once the black was completely dry i then over stamped the same cog stamp with distress inks salty ocean and evergreen bough, this added some nice colour to the background and broke up all the black.

Items Used:
aall&create stamp set #664 'Multilayered cogs'
MFT scalloped edge die
Cheerylynn cog dies
Tool dies (?brand)
Alpha dies (?brand)
Distress Inks 'salty ocean' 'evergreen bough'
Versafine Clair black ink
Black and white cardstock

We have these stamps from Visible Image as the prize this month so do hop over to We Love Stamping to join in, we do also have the anything goes option if sports and hobbies not for you but it must include stamping.

Happy Fathers Day

Good Morning everyone

Today im sharing the little card Ive made for my dad for Fathers day.  I bought this duck stamp way back in the January sales so its about time i inked it up...maybe these 3 ducks represent my 2 brothers and I - when my youngest brother was 4 he wanted to grow up to be a duck😂

6x4.5" Cream card base. I stamped the ducks twice onto white card and watercoloured with distress inks and cut out, from the 2nd one i cut out the 2 front ducks and decoupaged them onto the base image with glue gel.

I die cut pale teal rain drop paper with memory box 'splashing puddles' die, i knew i wanted it larger than the die so i cut 2 and glued them together where i knew it would be hidden behind the ducks.  I adhered to gold holographic mirror card and added to the base.  I then added the ducks in place.  Stamped a sentiment, cut up and adhered to the left edge to finish.

The background, where the point of my pointy tool is, is where the join of the 2 panels is, my ducks hide it and it meant i could have a bigger background.  The gold rainbow holographic really dances in the light and through the die cut raindrops.

Items Used:
Woodware duck stamp JGS810 'Morris, James & Bill the ducks'
Woodware sentiment stamp
Memory box die 'splashing puddles'
Rain drop paper from the works
Gold holographic mirror card
Distress inks - wild honey, lemonade, evergreen bough, peacock feathers, dusty concorde

Thank you all for popping by.  I hope you all have a good week. Emma

Happy Fathers Day

Good Morning everyone.

As i haven't been at home it had to be a fairly quick card for my dad this year for Fathers day.  As he enjoys a quality bitter now and then i decided on a beer mug shaped card.

Approx size 5x5.5"  I first made a template of a beer mug by using a clipart black and white outline image printed onto white cardstock cut out.

I folded bronze pearlised card in half and placed the template on the front overlapping the fold to give me my shaped base card.  I then drew around the beer shape onto acetate, cut out and embossed with an embossing folder to give the impression of a glass beer mug, i adhered this by gluing just where it would be hidden by the foam at the top.  I drew around the handle onto thick acetate, cut out and adhered inside the card to the front - my insert hides the glue for the handle.

I then draw around the foam part of the template onto ivory cardstock twice, cut out and dry embossed with a scallop folder to give the feel of foam, i lightly inked it.  I then layered them to the top of the glass.

Die cut alpha's to spell cheers cut from the ivory card, mounted onto more of the bronze pearl and more ivory and added to the card with foam tape.  Sentiment stamped onto ivory card, cut out and added under the cheers to finish.
Showing it stood up, hopefully you can make out the handle

Items Used:
Woodware sentiment stamp
Alphabet dies
Embossing Folders 'stampin up Moroccan tile' sizzix scallops
Acetate

Thank you all for stopping by once again. Its haymaking this week so the weather is ideal and dad hopes to finish before the sun vanishes.  Hugs Emmax

Magnifipheasant Fathers Day

 Good Morning everyone.

Today im sharing the card ive made for my dad for Fathers day - another Pink Ink stamp set😊 My parents have alot of pheasants around them and even a few that visit the bird feeding area & nesting in the garden so i thought this Image apt.

8x8 Dark green base card.  I cut a piece of white card to fit and stamped all the feathers from the stamp set with a Ombre ink pad, i then attached to the base.  I took a brusho&pixie powder background id made on the 6" round gelli plate and stamped the flower from the set in grey around the bottom edge.  I added to the base and added a circular frame die cut from white and green cardstock with foam tape.

I then stamped the pheasant and coloured with inktense pencils and cut him out.  I stamped some feathers from the set and also a stampin up set and cut them out.  I attached them into the frame adding some real feathers to the tail area as well.

I then stamped the sentiment and added a stampin up pheasant stamp to look like he was stood on top of the sentiment.  I cut this out and mounted onto dark green card and then the base.

A close up on the pheasant, I added glossy accents to his eye

Items Used:
Pink Ink stamp - 'magnifipheasant'
Stampin up - 'fine feathers', 'walk in the wild'
Grand circle dies
Brushos & pixie powders
Kaleidacolor ombre ink pad 'cappuccino Delight'
Derwent inktense pencils

Fathers Day

Good Morning everyone, i hope you had a good weekend.

Today im sharing the card Ive made for my dad for Fathers Day.  It gets harder each time to come up with something different for him after 15yrs of making them.  After seeing these crow stamps from Lavinia i had the idea.  He has a little family of crows that are friendly with him, whenever he is out in the yard working they are there and he feeds them too....they have little 'chats'😂  So i went with a full on nature theme which is always suitable for a farmer as he is at one with nature😁

8x8" card.  I first downloaded and printed onto card a leaf shape from the internet, i then carefully with craft knife cut the leaf out - making sure to leave the outside in tact as thats the piece i needed for a mask.  Using re-positional glue spray i sprayed the back of the 'negative' piece and attached to a piece of white cardstock.  I then damped the inside section where my leaf was with plain water and sprinkled on brushos in shades of green.  Allow to dry completely.
I then added some light stencilling with oxide inks.  Stamped lots of foliage with oxide inks and grey archival ink.  I then removed my mask - make sure its completely dry before removing the mask or it may tear......yes that was my 1st take😁.

I worked out where i wanted the crows and using my stamp press stamped them in black archival ink, i overstamped a few times to get a really nice black image.  I then doodled in a branch for them to sit on and stamped some leaves on the branch.  i doodled in a little spider hanging from the leaf.  I then stamped my sentiment, caterpillar, hedgehog & dragonflies in black.  I splashed some oxide inks of the background to soften all the white.

I then added a shadow around my leaf using grey alcohol pens. To finish i mounted onto black card and then my base card and rounded all the corners with my crop'o'dile.

Just a close up.
I like using brusho's for the base layer of colour as you cant reactivate it so I don't end up with a muddy mess of inks 😁

I always try and add a little detail to the back of the card too, so added a little panel using the same brusho's/inks/stamps and another little hedgehog to finish.  I did the same to my insert but forgot to take a photo of that.

Items Used:
Lavinia Stamps - crows, hedgehogs, insects, caterpillar
Foliage stamps - magazine freebie
Justrite sentiment stamp
Various stencils
Brushos - sea green, turquoise, lime
Oxide inks -  peacock, salted ocean, evergreen
Archival inks - black, grey, colbalt

Thank you all for stopping by once again. I hope its a good week for you all. Hugs Emmax
