Fungi Fun

Good Morning everyone

Today Im honoured to be guest designer over at creativeartistemixedmedia with fun project using these fab toadstool stamps from pink ink designs.

MDF stand approx. size 7x6"  See below for how i made the background.....I then stamped the image onto white card, watercoloured with inktense pencils and cut out,  then arranged them on the base. Chipboard quote which i cut in half as it was too long but i thought a lovely saying, to find a little joy and cherish the little things around us like the beauty and magic of nature really does lift the spirits.

I edged the stand with gold paint & I gave it all a coat of mod podge to seal and protect.

Sadly the photos don't do justice to the cadence dora paints which are super shimmery which i used to highlight the toadstools and background

The background, i first stencilled texture paste mushrooms towards the bottom and dabbed on some texture paste with the spatula to give an earth/ground like effect.  Covered the whole thing in black gesso and then splodged on some acrylic paint, keeping it darker towards the bottom so that Mr Fungi would stand out against a darker background.

I then cut a foam mushroom in half, cutting the stalk on one to make it a bit shorter and then glued them to the base on the right and a whole mushroom to the left making sure i left enough room for the stamped image.  I then covered them in black gesso and built up the colours with acrylic paint and cadence dora paints so that they were the same colour as my stamped fungi.  I also dry brushed a top layer on the background with dora paints in gold, orange and a touch of fuchsia to highlight the mushrooms.

I then decided to decorate the back as well with the 2nd pink ink fungi stamp i have, I went with a completely different colour scheme so the recipient can flip it around for totally different art when they fancy a change

I made the background in the same way, just using a flower border that came on the same stencil as the fungi border in used on the 1st one.   After playing around i felt Mr Fungi was a bit short and lost so found this big believe chipboard in my stash which was ideal for him to stand on and help him stand out.  2nd smaller chipboard reads 'today is full of possibilities'

Items Used:
Pink Ink Stamps 'shitake happens' & 'Oyster frills'
Paperartsy stencil 'PS179'
Cadence Dora paints

Thistlehogs among the toadstools

Good Morning everyone

Its like buses, i rarely have the honour of being a guest design and now 2 days in a row😂

Today Im honoured to be a guest designer at The fairy & the Unicorn challenge

with an anything magical goes.   I decided to dig out my lovely thistlehog stamps and teamed them up with lots of toadstools and autumnal leaves so very seasonable.

I first made my cardbase from white cardstock and nesting dies and then cut a frame for the front and added with foam tape.  From the panel that came inside the frame i stencilled a soft background with oxide inks.  I then stencilled along the bottom with glossy glaze through a mushroom stencil, once dry i adhered the panel into the frame.

I stamped the little thistlehogs and watercoloured with distress inks and cut them out, i added shape to their bodies and adhered with glue gel.  I built up a little scene around them with transparency toadstools and die cut leaves. The little mushroom people came from another pink ink stamp set.

Tim Holtz chat stickers that read
'those that don't believe in magic will never find it'
'dream' 'imagine' 'believe'

Stickles glitter glue added to their little wings to finish with a touch of sparkle

Now these little thistlehogs are super tiny and super fast so we don't seem them so much but they are busy every night going about their magical work

I used distress inks - evergreen bough, tumbled glass, peacock feathers, wild honey, dried marigold and ripe persimmon to colour the them and for stencilling in the background

Im loving these PET/transparency/acetate toadstools, they are lovely to use and look so realistic.  All my leaves were cut using various scraps of ink coloured cardstock

I adhered the transparency mushrooms both flat and with glue gel so that that light can shine through some of them.

Those who follow me know I have a garden full of full size hedgehogs & lots that visit nightly.  Just last week we've had 3 late babies out feeding in the day time so we will hopefully get them fattened up nicely for hibernation.  My old cat is very protective of them when they come out in the daytime.

Items Used:
Pink Ink designs stamps 'thistlehogs'& 'shitake happens'
Lavinia stencil 'pods'
Paperartsy stencil 'PS179'
Distress inks & oxides
Toadstool transparancy/acetate
Cosmic shimmer glossy glaze 'daydream yellow'
Stitched nesting dies
leaf dies

Thank you all for stopping by, please do hop over to thefairyandtheunicorn to join in the fun.  I hope you have a good week. Hugs Emmaxx

Autumn toadstool

Good Morning everyone

Today is a Autumnal birthday card, using the fab pink ink toadstool stamp.  I teamed him up with some PET acetate toadstools and die cut leaves.

I used an Ombre ink pad and stamped the fungi onto ivory cardstock and cut them out, i added  little shading but mostly left them uncoloured.  I took a piece of the same ivory cardstock and stencilled lavinia pods with oxide inks and then over stamped with various leaf stamps.  In grey i used aall&create stamps to stamp the recipients birthday '11thOct' & the word 'autumn'   I used 2 of the nesting dies to die cut this and attached to a kraft base card, using foam tape behind the frame, this then gave me somewhere to tuck my leaves and toadstools into.

I then got arranging the stamped fungi with the acetate ones and added some die cut leaves  - these were cut from card inked with brusho's & Pixie powders so have some shimmer to them.  Clearly besotted sentiment stamp stamped onto the ivory, cut into a strip, matted onto kraft card and added to the top left corner to finish.

By tucking some of the fungi and leaved both behind the frame and in front it gives a nice feeling of depth.  I can't help but smile each time i look at this chap, he is such fun.

Items Used:
Pink Ink stamps 'Shitake happens'
aall&create stamps 'seasons'
Clearly besotted 'seasonal sentiment' stamps
Lavinia stencil 'pods'
Various leaf dies
Distress Oxide Inks ; fossilised amber, spiced marmalade, cracked pistachio, evergreen bough,
Kaleidacolor Ombre ink pad 'desert heat'

Thank you for stopping by once again and all your amazing comments on my previous uploads.  I hope you all have a good week. Emmax

Hello Fungi

Good Morning everyone

I got this fab fungi stamp in the black friday sales and this is his first outing, Ive teamed him up with kraft card to make a happy mail card.

5x5" kraft card base.  I stamped the fungi twice, once onto the base card and a 2nd time onto more kraft card.  On the base card i stencilled a leafy burst with oxide inks fossilized amber, crackling campfire & candied apple.  I added some cosmic shimmer glaze through a mushroom stencil - i was trying this new me product out but it added a different finish to the card for interest.

On the 2nd stamped fungi I watercoloured with inktense pencils, cut out & decoupaged onto the base image.  I added some white highlight with a posca pen.  Stamped the sentiment and added 3 extra toadstools to the finish.

Items Used:
Pink Ink stamp 'oyster frills'
Technique tuesday sentiment stamp 'hi there'
Altenew stencil
Derwent inktense pencils
Oxide inks
Kraft card
Cosmic shimmer glossy glaze 'daydream yellow'

Thank you for popping by once again.  No sign of snow here but if you do have snow then keep warm.  Hugs Emmax

Fungi thank you

Good Morning everyone

A lovely craft friend kindly gave me a pack of kraft card blanks so this is the thank you card i made for her using said kraft card blank, one for the base and i also used one to stamp all my images onto and cut out.

Direct on the kraft base i stamped the pink ink fungi stamp, using the leafy flourish in the set around the edges to help frame Mr Fungi.  I also stamped the sentiment.  On another piece of kraft card i stamped Mr fungi and some of the smaller images in the set and watercoloured them with derwent inktense pencils.  I then cut them out and attached to the base building up a little scene.

I used a brown finliner as i had stamped everything in brown and doodled in some ground a border around the edge to join up the leaf flourishes.  Glitter glue highlights on the dragonfly wings to finish.
Version 2, the same but different😁🍄

Items Used:
Pink Ink stamp 'shitake happens'
Stampin up stamp ' sassy salutations'
Clearly besotted sentiment stamp
Derwent Inktense pencils
Brown fineliner pen
Versaclair fallen leaves
Ranger stickles 'stardust'

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment, i really do appreciate it.  My little seagull chick has doubled in size and the parents not quite so protective or they have learnt this human is no threat so they are now letting me water my plant pots so thats good😊.  I hope you all have a good week, keep cool. Hello there fungi

Good Morning everyone

I had this brusho background matted onto black then white in my pile of phd's (projects half done!) for a very long time, a couple of years at least!  As i was going through the pile again this fab pink ink stamp was sitting on the side and i thought it would be the ideal background for him.

6x6" card.  I stamped the fungi stamp onto the background and 2 of the extra dragonflies from the set, i stamped them again onto white card, along with the mini mushrooms and then watercoloured them all with oxide inks and cut them out.  Using glue gel i decoupaged the main fungi.  I just glued the smaller character into place and added just the cap to the mini mushroom to the left.

I added some purple pixie powder to my craft mat and added a little water to turn it into a mica paint and used to colour the wings of the dragonflies and add a little to the leaves. I then added the extra wings to the dragonflies on the base.  Not easy to show the amazing shimmer it has when the light hits the mica.

Stamped sentiment die cut into an oval to finish

Just  a close up of the wee chap.  Hopefully this card gave a big smile to the recipient and brightened their day.

Items Used:
Pink ink stamp - Shitake happens
Sentiment stamp
Square die
Brushos - leaf green
cosmic shimmer Pixie powder - purple
Distress Oxide inks
White card - CraftUK ltd
Black card

Thank you all for stopping by once again. Ive had a hectic week with one of my own cats very poorly, then a stray cat turned up in a very poor state of health, so been to the vets every day this week so far. A new cooker delivery on Tuesday but the electrician supposed to fit it was in covid isolation...hopefully today the cooker will be connected so we can have something half decent to eat - just as well we have the microwave to at least have had something hot to eat as its been so cold!  Why is it you can't just speak to any customer services on the phone anymore.....you spend ages pressing this number and that and in a queue, finally get to the front of the queue 40mins later to be told they aren't taking phone calls so try their web chat to only be then able to type in 10 words at a time to try and explain the issue!   Still on a positive i do believe my mojo is returning at last as i had a good session with the gelli plate so lots of backgrounds to craft with now.  I hope you all have a good day.  Hugs Emmax

Thistlehogs

Good Morning everyone.

More thank you cards today.  I was naughty in the black friday sales and a few pink ink stamps fell into my basket.  These thistlehogs stamps flew into my basket as you how i love my hedgehogs.  Totally flat cards which is rare for me.

5x7" cardbase.  I stamped the images onto white card and die cut into stitched rectangles.   I then simply watercoloured them with distress inks and added a yellow wash around them and stencilled diamonds - that was trying out my new stencil!  Stamped sentiment and a touch of glitter glue on the wings to finish.  Matted onto turquoise blue card and then base.

Version 2.  Id love to see a few of these in my garden flittering among the flowers

I also bought this fungi stamp.  Made the same way and with the same colours, i just added the sentiment to the side as couldn't fit it on the topper nicely.

Items Used:
Pink Ink Stamps - thistlehogs & shitake happens
Stampin up sentiment curly cute
Double stitched rectangle dies
Aall&create stencil - diamonds
Distress inks - Squeezed Lemonade, cracked pistachio, evergreen, ripe persimmon, shaded lilac
Ranger diamond stickles

Thank you all for stopping by once again..  I hope you all enjoy the rest of the week and have a good weekend.
