Easter Chicks

Good Morning everyone

Today is a fun spring chicken wreath design, i had these left over aall&create chickens and then the idea came to me for an Easter wreath so i went with it.  Digging out another very old paper pad in my stash busting mission.

7x7" white base card.  I used one of the papers from the pad which had splashes of red, blue & yellow in it to pick up on the colours in my chickens and the woodgrain gives the effect of a chicken house.  I inked the edges in walnut stain distress ink.  I added little stripes behind it to look like its one long piece but actually i only had small offcuts left over.

From one of the yellow papers in the pad i die cut pine leaves to give the effect of straw which the chickens bed on. I die cut a circular frame from a pale paper and glued to the middle of my paper - this was to act as a guide/base for my wreath to keep it round.  I then just got gluing the branches into place, overlapping them as i went.

I then arranged my chickens - these has previously been stamped on white, watercoloured and cut out.  Glossy accents on the eyes.  I gently added a little shape to the bodies and attached with pinflair glue gel.  I then added some gems in the same colour tones, in groups of 3.....i thought they looked a bit like eggs in a nest

Die cut sentiment to finish.

A Mixed Medley

Good Morning everyone.

Today im sharing a mix of cards i made last year and didn't get around to sharing.

6x6 Ivory card base.   I used papers from kaisercraft , all matted onto a dark green cardstock.  I stamped the greeting onto a die cut oval from the same preembossed ivory card i used for the base. Flower die cut from a chocolate paper from the pad. Green pearls to finish.  I followed a sketch by a friend.
Papers are: Kasiercraft 'Botanica'

A close up on the flower.

This one uses the same flower die as the one above.  I die cut a tag from white linen card and then die cut the spellbinders die in it, i them die cut the same die from black card, added it over the top of the white version and inlaid it back into the tag.  I mounted this onto gold mirror card coloured with red alcohol inks.  Then onto black card and a white card base cut to a tag shape.

Flower die cut from the gold mirror card coloured with red alcohol inks. Black gem for the centre.  Stamped greeting die cut into a small oval to finish.
This photo shows the mirror card up better, adding a couple of different colours of alcohol inks to the the mirror card you get a nice marbled effect.

6x6 black cardbase.  Using a floral stencil i used blue glitter texture paste multiple times onto black cardstock.  Once dry - best left over night die cut into a hexagon.  Mounted onto orange card and black base card.

from the orange gemstones core-dinations card i die cut butterflies the green circle and white banner were also cut from the gemstones card - it has a subtle shimmer.  Stamped greeting and gems added to finish. I think the stencil is imagination crafts.

This shows the colour of the texture paste better, it really is very glittery in the light.

A New HOme card, using papers all from the same paper pad, mounted onto a dark green cardstock, i followed a sketch by a friend.  The little houses on the main panel i cut out from a spare piece and decoupaged on top to add a little depth.
Papers are American Craft - Amy tangerine 'Yes Please'

Another one following a friends sketch.  last year my craft resolution was to try and do different layouts, i did start off well before falling back on my old tried and tested layouts, i shall again this year try and do different layouts again.  This one uses papers all from the same pad.  All mounted on navy blue cardstock.  Die cut birthday sentiment and little flower from white linen card.  Twine and gems to finish.
Papers are: My Minds Eye 'collectable - remarkable'

And lastly another one following a sketch - 5x7 in size.  Autumnal papers mounted onto brown cardstock and white linen card.  I die cut the focal point using a thin stitched die 3 times from the same piece of paper and lined them up again on the front so that the pattern in the paper is complete.  Twine embellishment and die cut sentiment to finish.  This one is papers from poundland - 'changing seasons'

K is for Kraft card

Good Morning everyone, don't the days and weeks pass fast at the moment.

Its time for a new challenge over at alphabetchallenge

The theme this fortnight is:

K - KRAFT

So i dug out my kraft card and a paper pad and my new fringed chevron die.

5x5 kraft cardbase.  After picking which paper pad i wanted to use i cut 5 chevrons from 5 different sheets (ideal for those left over pieces!), i layered these up overlapping on a piece of kraft card, mounted onto black card and then the card base.
I then cut a strip of paper from another sheet from the pad, layered onto black and then covering the top chevron edge i added it with foam tape.  Stamped sentiment mounted onto black and on the belt band.  Light gold gems to embellish.

Just close up trying to show how the chevrons are fringed.

Items Used:

My Minds eye collectable paper pad -  'remarkable'
MFT Fringe Chevron die
Kraft card - papermania
Black card - payper box
Clearly besotted sentiment stamp.

Blue & Brown - crazy birds

Good Morning all, i hope you are all enjoying the weather.

So its time for a new challenge over at cardz4guyz,   the theme this fortnight is

BLUE & BROWN

Ive made quite a simple card, and paper pieced my stamped crazy bird.  Paper piecing has always been one of my fav techniques as im not really into colouring in.   I used papers from a 6x6 paper pad that isn't necessarily male orientated in design.

6x6 white cardblank.  I added a thin strip of blue dotty paper to the top and bottom of a panel of woodpanel paper and added to the cardfront.

I then stamped the bird in black so that i had the hair and feet on the wood paper.  I stamped the bird again on blue dotty paper and cut him out minus his feet and hair.  I gently shaped the body and added to the card front with glue gel lining up with the feet.  I stamped a 3rd time on white card cut out the eyes, beak & wing, and added this again onto the bird.  I added a touch of yellow pen to the beak, wing & tail.

Stamped sentiment die cut into a speech bubble.  Then i added a strip of blue ruler paper for the bird to stand on.

Close up of the bird, i added white gel pen highlights to his feet and hair and glossy accents to his eyes.

Items Used:
My Minds Eye paper pad 'remarkable' by Jen allyson
Tim Holtz Crazy bird stamps - original size
Clearly besotted sentiment stamp

Thank you for all your visits and comments.  Keep cool. Emma

Take One Paper Pad....

Good Morning all, i hope you are having a good week.

Today im showing a batch of cards all made from the same paper pad, after using it for make my mums card for Mothering Sunday i thought it would be a good challenge for me to try and use up all the papers on different cards and in different ways.  I actually enjoyed the challenge.

The paper pad is 6x6" 'On the Bright Side' by My Minds Eye

Its a pad ive had years and loved so used it sparingly as us crafters do.

This first card i made for mum, 7x7 white cardbase.  I die cut some of the papers with various stitched dies, all matted onto chocolate brown cardstock and layered up.  I die cut the flower from white card so it would stand out against all the busy patterns, i edge it with blue and added blue pearls to the centre.  Die cut mum from white too and then added blue pearls to finish.

I then made a very similar one for the box just using different papers from the pad and orange pearls.  Im not usually one for adding lots of busy patterns together but found using just bits of them that it wasn't too OTT.

6x6 Chocolate Brown basecard.  New home card.  I die cut various stitched shapes from the papers and layered them up, this first takes a while playing with the shapes and placements until it works for me.  I then stamped the greeting in brown ink onto beige faux leather effect card and mounted onto the card base.   I then die cut my little house from 2 papers and stuck together.

6x5.5" Brown card base.  I again cut some patterend papers and layered onto chocolate brown cardstock, added onto beige card stamped with the greeting.  I die cut my cat twice, ones from orange and again brown papers and off set so he stands out more. Blue pearls to finish.

6x6" chocolate brown cardbase.  I had lots of little bits of paper left, not big enough to do much with so cut them into tiny little flowers.  I then die cut green leaves, a stitched rectangle which was left over too made a great flower planter!  All layered onto wood grain paper that also comes from the pads.  Die cut greeting and cat both in the brown.  I added liquid pearls to the flower centres which dried weird with a dent in the middle but after contemplation i think it looks like little seed beads so have left it.

5x7" Brown base.  Lots of papers die cut into various fishtail banners and layered up onto a beige floral pattern paper.  Again it took a while to get an order which worked for me.  Stamped greeting.

4x6" (A6) card, this one used all the left over banners from the first one.

4x6" (A6) card, i had lots of little strips of paper left so did a little weaving, layered onto woodgrain paper.  Die cut cat as before and stamped greeting.

And last but not least a gift tag, all the little scraps i die cut into banners, as most weren't long enough for the whole length of the die, I just die cut the tips with the fishtail end.  For the vertical strip i cut them off the front cover of the pad - not waste with any of this paper pad.  Ribbon to finish.

This last card was made for a colour challenge with friends of using apricot, peach, anthracite and ribbon, the papers fitted perfectly instead of the brown card i used a dark pearl grey, i had matching ribbon in my stash and added loops of them along the top and bottom edges of the middle panel.  Die cut sentiment and flower.

My Minds Eye 'On the Bright side' paper pad
Chocolate brown cardstock, Beige leather cardstock, grey pearl- payper box
Various Stitched dies, squares, rectangle, circle
Flower dies
Cat dies
