Hollyhocks for mum

Good Morning everyone

Today Im sharing the card I made for my mum for Mothering Sunday.  I used metallic flakes, printed acetate and my very old well loved hollyhock die to make a DL card for her.  Nightmare to take photos of though with all the shimmer and shine!

DL (8x4") white linen cardbase which i lightly inked the edged with cracked pistachio and tumbled glass distress inks.  I die cut a lacy panel from white linen card and added to the front.

I adhered a sheet of double side adhesive to white card and on the other side rubbed in the metallic flakes and then die cut them with the hollyhock die.  I die cut foliage from pale blue and pearl teal cardstock.

I have packs of 'clear prints' from stamperia which is very very heavy weight acetate with beautiful printed images, so I die cut a jar from one fo them.  Now this acetate is so thick the die doesn't cut right through but enough that i could then finish cutting it with scissors and get a clean edge.  I added this to the card front with pinflair glue gel and then got arranging the flowers and foliage.

I added a torn scrap of green paper under the jar to 'ground' it

Side view of the dimension.  I added curve to the hollyhocks with a ball tool

The acetate jar has a lovely shine which adds interest and another texture.  I debated where to put a sentiment but decided against it, I know mum will have this on display for months so doesn't really need a sentiment on the front.

Here you can really see the colours better, the metallic fakes really are shimmery and gorgeous but I do so hate them! lol

No matter how hard I try every time Ive used guilding flakes or metallic flakes they go everywhere and stick to everything - for weeks afterwards they turn up somewhere, for days the cats had red speckled fur - one even had a red sparkly nose for a few days,  the hoover has a lovely coating of them where they stuck to the warmth of the outside plastic areas.  So I did use the whole pot up in one go adding to adhesive sheets to get it over with - I still have them to use.  I was give the pot as a Christmas present and the effect if beautiful with the different colours in them but yep a product I still Hate to use😒

Items Used
Cosmic shimmer metallic flakes
Stamperia clear prints
Impression Obsession hollyhock die
Jar & foliage dies
Various printed papers
Distress Inks - tumbled glass, cracked pistachio

Thank you for stopping by once again.  I hope you all have a great week. Emma

Hollyhocks

Good Morning everyone

Today is a summery DL card using one of my most used dies - these lovely hollyhocks from Impression Obsession

I die cut the hollyhocks from inked card scraps left over from making these cards

DL card (approx 4x8")   I inked the edges of the card with pink & yellow distress inks and that matted a white die cut on top.

I die cut lots of hollyhocks, these dies are great as can use the smallest strips of cardstock so ideal for left over snippets. The pieces that aren't big enough to cut the whole flower stem from are ideal to build up a bouquet by tucking in the top behind everything else.  I die cut foliage from green cardstock which again was scraps. Jar die cut from piece of blue paper in my bit box and a bow die cut from yellow inked cardstock.

I curved the jar and added with glue gel so that the top is unstuck for me to tuck the flowers and foliage into.  I then got building my  arrangement.  Sentiment stamped onto die cut tag to finish.

Just a close up, i had added shape to the hollyhocks with a ball tool and adhered the front ones with pinflair glue gel.  The photos don't pick it up but the pink is shimmery when the light hits it.

Hopefully we soon get some proper summer weather, although we have had a couple of nice days this week

Items Used:
IO hollyhock die
Foliage & Jar dies
Distress Inks - 'squeezed lemonade, riper persimmon, picked raspberry'
Dylusions simmer spray 'bubblegum pink'
Brusho powder 'yellow'
CraftUk ltd white linen card

Had this mummy hedgehog with 3 hoglets turn up this week, we have at least another 2 babies as well which is lovely....there is actually a food bowl under them😀

I hope you have a good week. Emma

The specimen jar

Good Morning everyone

Today card is for a good craft friend who is halloween & tim holtz mad, she loves using Tims paper dolls so i have teamed up 3 paper dolls with an acetate jar i had.  It is sat on the shelf in the witches den among her other lotions & potions

I took a piece of white card and drew around the jar acetate as it has a border around the actual printed line, i then used a craft knife to cut just inside the pencil line, i used very thin super hightack tape to adhered the bottle behind the aperture.  Before actually sticking the jar in, i used glittery texture paste through a shattered stencil and inked up with oxide inks, once dry attahed the jar.

I cut another piece of white card with the next size up die, in the middle where the bottle would be i inked with lemonade and twisted citron inks to give a glowing effect, the outside edge i inked with violet, potion and sapphire inks.  I worked out where i wanted my 3 paper dolls so that they would appear in the bottle and adhered them in position.  I added foam tape to the back of the front panel and stuck into place.

From previous years i had these digital images of jars, skulls, eyes, bugs printed off and covered with glossy accents.  They are a very very old daisytrail digi-kit.  I arranged them around the main image.  I also had an offcut of spider web and 2 spiders, all cut from black card and dry brushed with silver paint - i also added crackle accents to the spiders.

Dreadfully wicked chipboard
and then 3 chit chat stickers which i mounted onto black card
'Watching and waiting'
'what horrors they had seen'
'Here in the darkened house of weeping'

..............one day the specimen jar will break and they will escape and get the witch😊

This is my last halloween card for this, ive had great fun letting the imagination run wild and distract from real life for a while.

Items Used:
PET/acetate/transparency jar
Tim Holtz Stencil - shattered
Tim Holtz Paper dolls
Tim Holtz Halloween clipping stickers & Halloween baseboards
Stamperia texture paste 'arctic ice'
Distress Inks 'squeezed lemonade, twisted citron'
Oxide inks ' violet, villainous potion'
Spider & web die
Discontinued daisytrail digital kit for all the bottles, skull, eyeball etc...

Thank you all for stopping by once again. I can't believe its half term already, babysitting 3 nieces so lots of crafting to be done which is lovely, i provide the stash they provide the energy & imagination.  I hope you all have a great week.  Big hugs Emma

Snowdrops

Good Morning everyone

I had got these snowdrop dies for Christmas and when mum saw them she loved them, having already made her birthday card i decided to make a little picture she can hang on the wall with them.

5x7" approx.  I cut a piece of blue patterned paper for the background and cut a piece of green script card with a curved border to act as the 'grass'. I die cut the jar from white card and lightly inked with tumbled glass distress ink.   I then die cut lots and lots of snowdrops from white card and foliage from left over bits of the script card i used for the grass.

For the snowdrops they do have little pieces that pop out after die cutting, i wanted to keep them in so added a little bit of tape to the back of each snowdrop to hold the pieces in - found it easier to do before popping them out of the die. I then used a green and grey alcohol pen to gently add colour to each snowdrop.  I built them up in my jar with the foliage.

A close up on the snow drops.  When im die cutting lots of small dies like this my baby blue die cutting machine is ideal.

And a photo of it in its box frame with mount.  Mum and dad both loved it!

Items Used:
Alexandra Renke snowdrop die
Sizzix foliage die
Jam jar die
MFT Curved border die
Patterned papers
Alcohol markers - green & grey
Tumbled glass distress ink
5x7 box frame

Thank you all for stopping by once again. I hope you enjoy the rest of the week and then weekend. Emma
