WLS Nov #2 - Driving home for Christmas

Good Morning Everyone

Time for some mid month inspiration for We Love Stamping where the theme this month is

CHRISTMAS
But we always have the anything goes option as long as you use stamps

I bought this quirky car stamp set earlier in the year and wanted to use on a fun Christmas card.  I decided to get both cars on the front and make a gatefold card, the cars are also added on wobblers for extra fun.

This year Ive been determined to use up some very old Christmas papers... I decided to make these ones look better to emboss them with the letter press technique which completely changed the look of them.

6x6 Gatefold made from white card.  I first stamped the cars, watercoloured with distress oxide inks and cut out.

I took a pale teal snowflake printed paper and using distress ink evergreen bough and a 3d tree embossing folder used the letter press technique.....you ink the 'flat' side of the folder so that when embossed the raised part is left un-inked and the background is inked with evergreen ink - great way to change a paper you aren't too keen on.

I cut to size, matted onto silver satin card and added to the front.  I used scraps of black glitter card at the bottom for the 'road' and added the cars with wobblers.

Computer printed sentiment matted onto black glitter card, adhered to one side and red candy dots added to finish.

and the inside, layered with paper, sentiment die cut from red matted onto a white oval and a larger silver satin oval.  White die cut snowflakes and touches of glitter glue added to finish.  You can see the wobblers the cars are on better here too.

and on the back of the card, a place to write.  Computer printed sentiment onto white and an offcut of the paper used inside at the bottom to tie it all together....this also saves it going in the bin or scrap pile!!

Just showing the dimension the wobblers give

and version 2

The same but different!  The stamp set comes with different items you can add to the cars roof racks which is fun and I decided after making the first card that the 'road' would look better cut with a wavy edge

Version 3...this paper had a more grey tone so i used 'Iced Spruce' distress ink to letterpress emboss and a textured grey paper for the road.  This was all matted onto black glitter card.

and inside, I used scraps of paper to die cut red and green snowflakes from to pick up on the red and green on the front.

Items Used:
aall&create stamp set #1112 'Movin on up'
Distress Inks 'evergreen bough, iced spruce'
Distress Oxides 'candied apple, lucky clover, salty ocean, fossilized amber, ripe persimmon, black soot.

WLS Sept#1 - Cute

Good Morning everyone

Time for a new challenge over at We Love Stamping where the theme this month is

CUTE
So right out of my comfort zone , if cute is not for you, you can always go with the anything goes option as long as you use stamping

Looking through my stamps I don't have many that are cute, but found this cute mouse image that a friend had stamped and sent to me which is called Ballerina Mouse by Pink Ink designs.  I thought it would be ok for my niece Charlottes birthday.

6x6" card which I made from acetate.  After colouring the mouse with alcohol markers i went searching for a paper and found this one with rainbow tones which also picked out the pinks, purples and blues in the colouring.  I folded it and adhered inside the acetate card so that is shows through.

I die cut a frame from teal and white card and added to the front with foam tape, i die cut circles from the same colours and adhered flat in the middle, to this I added the mouse on a 'wobbler' so she dances around.  I then computer printed the sentiments die cut into fishtail banners and added to the front with glue gel.

2 pink glossy hearts added to the sentiments and glitter glue added to the wings to finish.

(After finishing and looking at it a while I realised that if I had thought it through I would have cut the backing paper so the circles were more even on each side.... which I could have done as it was a 12x12 paper but Im sure my niece won't even notice that)

The wobbler gives lots of dimension

Whenever I make an acetate card and added a paper insert, i will always add the frames and such to the front first as i then add the glue behind these to hold the insert in place, therefore no glue shows through the acetate.

Charlotte decided she wanted a recorder for her birthday so we all needed ear plugs! lol

Items Used:
Pink ink stamp 'ballerina mouse'
Spellbinders and MFT circle dies
Fancy square nesting dies
MFT fishtail banner dies
Alcohol makers
Make & Create Patterned paper (the works)
hunkydory acetate

Lizzy is 11

Good Morning everyone

These are the 2 cards I made for my niece Lizzy's 11th birthday in December.

Last year i won 3 digi stamps from thepapershelter, one i chose with Lizzy in mind is called 'Jazzy ferret'

His quirky style is ideal for Lizzy, I decided to use the pre coloured digi so found an old 6x6 paper pad in my stash that matched the purple & green colours perfectly so I decided to make a fancy fold to use as many papers as i could! I swear papers breed & multiply in the dark of the drawer! lol

I printed the image out and cut out.  After folding my card i added papers to the front, matting onto a pinky lilac holographic card which really dances in the light. I die cut an oval from white, added to the front and added the ferret with a wobbler so that he dances around.  I added glossy accents to his sunglasses

Inside the card i matted more papers from the paper with the holographic card.  I stamped the birthday sentiment and die cut into a white circle and added to the left side with a fishtail banner behind.  I added a plain white die cut to the right side to write the greeting on.

Showing different angles

You can find details on how i made this fold here

Items Used:
Papershelter digi stamp 'jazzy ferret'
Bobunny paper pad 'Enchanted garden' (very old)

and the 2nd card i made for Lizzy is with a dragon as she loves her dragons

I made a diamond pop out card from white and cut panels from a green, lilac & gold tone marbled paper, i added a die cut square to the front panel with foam tape.  I stamped the Katzelkraft dragon onto a piece of card inked long ago with green & orange brusho & pixie powders, I cut him out and added to the front with glue gel.

I die cut happy birthday alphas from a snippet of orange mirri card and added to the side panels.  I stamped and added 'you rock' next to the dragon to finish

Just showing from different angle.  I gave Lizzy this card as gave her a dragon themed gift so my parents gave her the ferret card.

Items Used:
Katzelkraft stamps 'dragon'
Marbled paper pad from the works
Wonky stitched square die
Orange mirri card
Brusho powders 'emerald,lime & orange'

Sophie is 13

Good Morning everyone

My oldest niece Sophie has just turned 13 and these are the two cards i made for her

6x6" gate fold card.  I found this fab paper in a pad from the works, Sophie loves green & pink so ideal for her, i matted it onto a dotty green paper and then the card front.  I found a pink paper to match the tones and stamped the bear and cut out, i stamped her arms, nose & tail onto sage green paper, cut out and pieced onto the pink bear.  I stamped the flowers onto oatmeal paper, cut out & added to look like she is holding them.

I die cut a large white circle, smaller one from the sage green paper and a soft oatmeal colour, adhered together and glued in the centre of the card front, making sure to just add the glue on one side of the circle so the gatefold still opens.  I then added the bear on a wobbler.  I stamped a few stars and flowers from the stamp set, cut out and added around the bear.  Glitter glue added to the flower centres and stars for some sparkle - this 13 year old girl loves her sparkle 😁

The inside.  I used the same paper as the front on the inside of the gate panels.  For the middle i used a plain oatmeal paper so that the mice would stand out well.  I die cut the birthday sentiment from white and matted onto the pink i used for the bear and added a little star.

The 2 mice were stamped onto sage green paper and the belly, ears & tails onto the pink.  I added a little heart to one mouse and a little birdie on the nose of the 2nd one.

The back of the card with a place to write the greeting where i matted circles from the same papers and stamped the sentiment.

Items Used:
aall&create stamp set #466 Quirky friends
12x12 paper pads from the works 'lovely flowers, Botanic & pastel basics'
Clearly besotted sentiment set
Birthday circle die
Ranger stickles 'diamond'

and card 2
another book fold - i was on a roll with these.  Ive used another aall&create stamp set too

The 2nd card I made for her is another pop out book fold.  I made my card base from navy blue cardstock and layered on pastel papers.  I stamped the images, watercoloured with distress inks and cut out.  I layered up 2 fence panels, the barn and the pig in mud on the front.  I stamped sentiment from a paperartsy set, cut out and adhered to the front.

On the inside i added more of the pastel papers and the other 2 pigs from the stamp set

Items Used:
aall&create stamp set #287 'Dirty games'
Paperartsy JOFY stamp set 'JOFY 11'
12x12 paper pad from the works 'pastel basics'
Distress Inks - vintage photo, picked raspberry, wild honey, chipped sapphire, walnut stain

She loved both cards so thats good.  Its get harder to keep coming up with ideas, especially as I make 2 for all their birthdays, one from my parents too.

Id love to enter the first card in the following:

Creative Creases

Good Morning everyone

Im honoured today to be guest designer over at Creative Creases which is a fabulous challenge that celebrates fancy folds

Ive gone with a new to me fold, no idea what its called as I found one picture on pinterest but it wasn't linked to the original poster and no end of searching I couldn't find the original to credit them...If it was you thankyou😀
I tweaked it to easily fit on A4 card.  Its a lovely way to use up some of an old patterned paper pad which went perfectly with my little lemon girl aall&create stamp to make a fun summery card to brighten a grey wintry day🍋

This shows the front of the card and it opened out inside.  For want of a name Im calling it the triangle pop out for now!
Approx size closed is 3.5x5"  After making my card from white card I matted a lemon paper onto green paper and added to the front.  I used a strip of the same paper used inside and added across the front, a die cut white oval and then my lemon girl which id stamped and watercoloured with distress inks.  I added her on a wobbler for extra fun.  Stamped the easy peasy lemon squeezy from another stamp set onto white and cut out.  Glitter glue highlights and yellow enamel dots to finish the front.

The inside, I used more papers from the same pad and matted onto green.  I add a white oval to the right side to write the greeting on and a stamped sentiment to the right which reads 'wishing you a day full of happiness' which i die cut into a circle and matted onto a larger inverted scalloped circle die cut from yellow to give the effect of the sun

Its def been the year of the wobbler for me, but they add such a fun element and ideal with a fun character too....plus its a pack of 50 so plenty to use!

and showing the outside & back of the card, i used the same papers on the back as the front.  This is a good fold that stands up nicely for display purposes too - nicely balanced.  The hardest bit i found was cutting the mats and layers for the triangular folds which are far from perfect and is why i decided not to decorate the back folds as well🤣

Instructions for the fold
Cut a piece of A4 card to 12.5cm ( 5.5") wide.  So to limit measuring etc for those of us who use A4 in the UK which is an odd length I found it easier to first score the A4 in half using my score board A5 line, then from that centre score line mark 3cm either side and 6cm out either side.  Then score on the diagonal the 3cm marks out from the centre - fold these as mountain folds.  Score & fold the 6cm out from centre marks as valley folds.  The centre fold is also a valley.  Hope that makes sense.

If not using A4 cut your card to 28cm long and mark at 8cm, 11,14,17 & 20cm and fold the lines as above.

Items Used:
aall&create stamp #1021 'lemon'
LOTV circle sentiment stamp (very old)
Studio Light stamp set #427 'lemon squeezy'
Studio Calico 6x6 Paper pad 'lemonlush'
Spellbinders oval, circle & inverted scallop circle dies
Distress inks - squeezed lemonade, twisted citron, lucky clover, hickory smoke
altenew enamel dots
CraftUk ltd smooth white card
