Leaves & Butterflies

Good Morning everyone.

Today im sharing 2 cards i made with the concord & ninth 'layered leaves' die set combined with hexagons and inked papers.

I first coloured a piece of white card with green shades of distress oxide inks and then die cut lots of leaves out of it - my little baby die cutting machine comes in useful when cutting lots of smaller dies, i can do it on a lap try in front of the tv.

I die cut a piece of white linen card into a stitched hexagon and arranged my leaves across it, trimming any overhang.  I then die cut a circle into the middle.  I added foam tape to the back and adhered to a white linen card blank also cut with a larger hexagon die.  The centre piece i cut with the circle die i adhere flat back into the middle, so it gives a bit of a recess.

I die cut the birthday circle sentiment from gold mirri card and adhered into the centre.  I then die cut and layered up a butterfly from contrasting inked card, this is glued into the recesses middle.  Bling stone added to finish.

Close up, you can see how i die cut the centre and replaced better here, just to add more interest to what is quite a simple card.

And version 2 using one of the other leaf dies from the set and a piece of previously inked card in tones of reds and oranges.

Items Used:
Concorde&Ninth layering leaves die set
MFT birthday circle sentiment die
Sizzix butterfly dies
Spellbinders circle dies
XL stitched hexagon dies

Teenage boy

Good Morning everyone, i hope you are enjoying the long weekend.

Today im sharing a card i made for a teenage boy, its following a sketch layout that a friend set that really got my brain cells going.  Ive used one of my marbled papers in blue and silver so Ive used Navy blue & Silver cardstock to go with it.

6x6 Navy cardbase.  I first die cut the solid triangles from my marbled paper and the top fancy layer from silver mirror card and adhered together.  I cut a peice of white linen card smaller than my card base and lightly inked in blue thru a little dots stencil.  This stencil is so useful just to add a little interest but not too much.  I then arranged my triangles, overlapping them slightly.

I die cut the MFT birthday sentiment die from white card, using my plain circle dies i cut a frame to fit it from navy card, cutting the middle out too.  I arranged it with one of the triangles in the middle, attaching over the top with glue gel.  I stamped to tiny sentiments onto white scraps and cut out, lightly inked with the little dots sentiment and attached in place with glue gel to finish.

Just a close up

Christmas Penguins Picture

Good Morning all

As i loved those Grumpy penguins so much last year but always give them away i decided to make something for myself for a change.  So ive made a 3 dimensional picture for my wall to come out year after year at Christmas.

8x8"   On white card i first made a sky scene with brushos, pixie powders and then inked around the edges with black soot & chipped sapphire distress inks.  White paint flicked on to give a snow effect.

I then designed my igloo.  I first die cut a circle , trimmed off the bottom in a curve and using a black fine liner drew my ice blocks in.  I then edged each block with grey pen and glitter.  For the doorway i cut a smaller circle and cut out the centre and mounted using foam over black card to make it look like an entrance.

Using white paint and texture paste i created the snowy floor for my penguins to stand upon.  I sprinkled glitter and snow flakes into the wet texture paste. I haven't gone right to the edge as it needs to fit in the frame.

I stamped my penguin family and simply coloured them and then fussy cut them out.

For my fairy lights i die cut them from white card, coloured with alcohol markers and added glossy accents.  For my moon i die cut the sentiment circle and used distress inks to colour softly add colours.

A close up on my igloo and you can see the snow better

I then added my scene into a black box frame, i added more texture paste & snow to the front of the frame and splashed on some white paint for snow.

Well its already been mentioned by my guests this week as its on the mantle piece for all to see but especially me to enjoy when sat in my chair.  Those penguins still make me smile everything i see them.

Q is for Quads

Good Morning everyone, another week passed by - where are they going?

So its time for a new challenge over at Alphabet Challenge  the theme for the next fortnight is

Q - QUADS
Use 4 of something

I went for 4 background panels.

I had actually die cut the panels from left over off cuts of pearlised cardstock.  I then dry embossed the squares with a circle embossing folder.  I then coloured them with a mix of aqua tints in green, blue and purple.  The pearl of the card still shows through the inks really well.  I added the inks to a mat, sprayed with water and dipped the card into it.

I mounted the panels onto silver mirror card  (hard to get a decent photo of the silver), and mounted onto a 6x6 white cardblank.  I die cut the Christmas sentiment from silver mirror card, the circle that comes out the middle i decided to emboss and glue back in.  This i mounted onto a die cut circle and then over the background panels.

Die cut a white snowflake, added a very blingy dazzler to finish.

This one was made in the same way but i had die cut the left over pearl card into rectangle panels instead.  Finished card is 5x7"

Items Used:

MFT Christmas sentiment die
MFT stitched rectangle die set
Wonky stitched square die
Wonk stitched circle die
Poppystamps Marius Stitched snowflake die
