Created to shine

Good Morning everyone

I made these end of last year, i was lucky enough to win this stamp set at the beginning of last year after finally got around to using them - its by an American company called 'close to my heart' and the stamp set is called 'created to shine'  The quality of these stamps is fabulous and they are lovely to use.

6x6" white linen cardbase.  I die cut a square from white linen cardstock and stamped the lights and one of the quotes in the set using black ink.   I stamped the lights again onto more white cardstock and watercoloured with yellow & orange wink of stella pens so they really shimmer and shine in the light, i then cut out the bulbs and added to the base image after gently adding shape to them.  I added a soft yellow watercolour wash around the lights to give the effect of light emanating from the bulbs and some splatters too.   I added a couple of extra lights and doodled in the cords for them.

I mounted this panel with foam tape onto orange mirri card and then the base.

Hopefully you can make out the shine and shimmer of both the wink of stella on the bulbs and the orange mirri in the background

Version 2 - made the same way, just using one of the other quotes in the set

Version 3.  This one uses a cream pearl cardstock instead of white.   This time i watercoloured the bulbs with distress inks and added glossy accents over the top to give a glass effect to them.  In my stash i had some stamped moths precoloured and left over from a previous project which were the perfect fit for the bulbs - these moths has been coloured with inktense pencils - the stamp is by visible image 'glimmer of light'

I matted the panel onto green glitter card which picks up the green in the moths wings.   Yellow gems to finish.

Items Used:
Close to my heart stamps 'created to shine'
Visible image stamps 'glimmer of light'
Tattered lace square dies
Kuretake wink of stella pens
Derwent inktense pencils
Ranger glossy accents
CraftUK Ltd white linen card
Cream pearl, green glitter & orange mirri cardstocks

Thank you all for popping by once again.  I hope you have a good rest of the week and then weekend.  These weeks seem to be flying past don't they.  Hugs Emmaxxx

Lightbulbs

Good Morning everyone

I made these cards before Christmas using a lovely stamp set from aall&create i bought in the black friday sale.

Slimline black card base.  I first stamped the lightbulb image onto white card and watercoloured with distress inks, i stamped a second image and cut out the lightbulb, larger flowers and butterfly and decoupaged them onto the base image with glue gel.  I then added glossy accents to the bulb.  I matted this panel onto black.

I cut white card slightly smaller than my base card and stamped the floral part of the stamp onto the top and bottom corners with grey ink, using some small sentiment stamps i stamped either side of the floral corners again with grey ink.  I added splatters using the same inks i used to colour the image and then mounted the topper panel with foam tape to finish.

Version 2.  This used a soft cream pearl cardstock for both my base card and the topper panel.  I made the topper panel the same was as card one but this time for the base card i used lavinia butterfly stamps watercoloured with distress inks and a little leaf stamped with green distress ink.  The pearl of the cardstock still shimmers through nicely.

and version 3   This time i stamped directly onto my cream pearl base card, I still decoupaged the bulb, flowers, butterfly and a couple of the larger leaves.  I added soft stencilling to the outside using oxide inks salvaged patina & cracked pistachio.  Stamped the sentiment from the set to finish.  It reads 'You are like a wildflower, beautiful, fierce & free'

Items Used:
aall&create stamps 'filaments & feathers' #621
mini word stamps
Lavinia stamps 'fairy bugs' 'mini flutter'
Lavinia stencil 'foliage'
Distress Inks & Oxides
Glossy accents

Thank you all for popping by.  I hope its a good week for you. Hugs Emmax

Glimmer of light #2

Good Morning everyone

Today is the 2nd project i made with Visable image glimmer of light stamp set, its an mdf lightbulb home decor project.

Size approx 6x9".   After doing the background (see below for full details) I stamped all the moths and sentiment onto white cardstock.  I coloured the moths in with inktense pencils, using the same pencils on all of them. I then coated with mod podge to seal and cut out.  If im doing a home decor project i tend to finish it with a protective layer of varnish to give it some longevity....keep dust at bay😁  I stamped & die cut the quote into an oval, splashed on some splatters using the colours in used on the moths, sealed it and attached to the lightbulb.  I then got arranging the moths to finish.

And this is the background before adding the moths.  The lightbulb actually comes with a stand but i wanted it to hang up so i just cut the bits off the bottom that slotted into the base.
I  adhered die cut flowers which i die cut years and years ago from cardboard boxes so good to be using them at last!  I then coated it all with black gesso.  I added crackle paste in areas and then got painting it all with shades of yellow/orange/gold acrylic paints, darker areas in the middle.  I dilute black gesso down with water to make a thin paint and slopped it on (yep that technical😁) and left it to settle in around the flowers and the crackles.  Once dry i added a top layer by dry brushing gold and copper shimmer paints which i think you can just about make out in the photo.

For the bulb screw top i added 3 rows with a viva paper pen which once dry I painted over with black gesso give the impression of the screw ridges, i highlighted with silver acrylic paint.

Just a close up of the background

MDF lightbulb - thatscrafty
Visible Image glimmer of light stamps
Tim Holtz Sizzix tattered floral bigz die
Crackle paste
Imagination crafts starlight paints - gold & orange
Deco art acrylic paints
Inktense pencils
Viva paper pen

Thank you all for stopping by. I hope you all have a good week. Hugs Emmax

Glimmer of light

Good Morning everyone

A card using Visible image glimmer of light stamp set

6x6" scalloped cardbase.  I cut a piece of white card to fit my base and stamped the quote at the top in black ink and then the light bulbs, i then tore a piece of paper to fit around each of them and attached with repositionable glue to mask them off - this was to keep them white and stand out after id inked up my background. I tore the edges as i wanted a more soft look rather than sharp cut edges.
I then blended on distress inks dusty concorde, chipped sapphire and black soot to give a more night time feel but not pure black.  I splashed on a bit of water and dried to give some interest. I then removed all the masks.  I  inked in & around the lightbulbs with wild honey and squeezed lemonade.  Once completely dry i stamped on the small moth stamp with black ink and kept stamping it until no ink left on the stamp so that i had lots of soft moths in the background.
I then took a circle swirl stencil and stencilled through it with gold starlights paint and edged the panel with the gold too - this has an amazing shimmer in the light.  I added glossy accents to my lightbulbs to them a glass light effect and left to dry.  Matted onto black cardstock and then my base card.
I stamped the moths, added slight colour with a blue wash and cut them out and arranged.

This shows the background before i added the moths, you can see the gold circle swirl better.  When i stamped my lightbulbs i didnt ink up the cord of the stamp so that i could then add my own cords with a black fine liner pen and ruler - just gave me more freedom where i wanted them to go.

You can just make out the gloss on the lightbulbs.

Imagination crafts starlight paint - rich gold
