Retro baubles

Morning All

One of the old 6x6 paper pads in my stash was this lovely retro style by carta bella called 'Merry Christmas by Steven Duncan'  Which i decided it was about time i used, ive teamed it up with a very old spellbinders bauble die set

Card Sixe 6.5x6.5" I rounded the corners to pick up on the curves of the bauble.

I first die cut the largest bauble from the middle of a 6x6 pieces of paper, from this bauble i then die cut the star aperture wreath in the middle of it.  I did this from 2 different papers.

I matted one paper onto green holographic cardstock and then the card front.  The bauble from the different paper i then mounted into the middle aperture with glue gel having curved it slightly first.  The holographic dances through the stars in the bauble when the light hits it.  Sentiment die cut from white and matted onto larger circles die cut from plain papers from the pad and added to the centre of the star circle.  Die cut bow added to finish with a dot of gold glitter glue.

Trying to show the holographic and stars better - so hard to take decent photos of it.  I had inked all the paper edges with faded jeans distress ink, this helps the bauble stand out a bit more.

Version 2, this time i matted onto red mirror card which shimmers and shines through the die cut stars

This shows the inside, I used strips of the same papers used on the fronts and die cut a large bauble from plain paper and stamped the sentiment

Version 3 - this one also has red mirror card which sadly the photos don't show very well

Versions 4 & 5 - these are both matted onto silver holographic card which really dances in the light

and finally versions 6 & 7, these are matted onto a silver glitter card which also has touches of red, green & gold in it.

I was very pleased to use quite alot of this paper pad on this one batch.  My mum has lots of retro baubles and decorations, even some that were her mums which come out each year.  Now mum buys one new bauble each year for the tree.

Charlotte is 5

Good Morning everyone, welcome to September😄

Time for a new challenge over at https://www.welovestamping.co.uk/

Where the theme is 'coloured image' or you can always go with the anything goes as long as some stamping is involved & you mention which stamps used

Ive made this diamond pop up card for my niece Charlottes 5th birthday, she absolutely loves anything dog related.  Ive used this space dog stamp from art by marlene  and teamed up with space themed papers.

I made my 6x6" diamond fold card from white cardstock and added patterned paper panels.  I cut a piece smaller again for the top and die cut a starry circle into it, this i matted onto silver holographic card and then the front.

I stamped the image, watercoloured with derwent inktense pencils and cut out, i added glossy accents to the space helmet and added him to the card front.  I die cut happy birthday from white card and matted onto navy paper and then the card front.

I found some little flying saucer dies in my stash - no idea where they came from but ideal to embellish.  I die cut them from white, watercoloured and added detail with a black fine liner pen and added to the card base to finish.

You can make out the silver holographic mirror card better here, when the light hits it the stars really dance

So colouring in isn't my 'thing' I find staying inside lines very stressful which is why i usually fussy cut everything out and go for unrealistic colours to lessen the pressure of making it look realistic!

Just showing it side on

There is this flamingo in a spaceship stamp on the set too so i made a 2nd version for a friends birthday

Made the same way as the first one, however i decoupaged her spaceship for some dimension.  I love her little legs sticking out the bottom 😀

Items Used:
Studio Light 'Art By Marlene' stamps 'out of this world - walk about'
Paper pad - the works
Star circle die
Birthday & Spaceship dies
Silver holographic mirror card
Derwent inktense pencils
Ranger glossy accents

These are the fab prizes up for 2 lucky winners so do hop over to join in at We Love Stamping

Thank you all for popping by.  I hope you have a good week.  Emma

With Sympathy

Good Morning everyone

Sadly my uncle lost his fight with cancer 10 days ago, he absolutely loved getting a handmade card from me and over the last couple of years of his battle i sent him many as happy mail so i felt i really needed to make a card for each of his children (my cousins)  Ive had to make a set of 6, which is the most sympathy cards ive made in one go, 3 for me and 3 for my parents to give so they all had to be totally different too - its certainly stretched my little grey cells and a couple are based on previous designs ive made.

A6 (6x4") white linen cardbase.  I die cut the star circle direct into the card front and lined with a lilac paper insert which shows through the stars.  I die cut 3 feathers from white linen card and gently inked the edges with lilac distress ink just to help them stand out a bit from the white backgroud.  Sentiment stamped in grey onto white card strip, matted onto lilac paper which was an offcut from doing the insert.  I rounded the corners to pick up on the circle focal point

5x7" Cream leather effect cardbase, sentiment stamped in dark green.  I die cut a foliage panel from the same ivory cardstock and lightly inked with pistachio oxide ink.  Candles die cut from off cuts of ivory pearl cardstock, i coloured the flame with alcohol markers and added to the middle of my panel.  Flower die cut from soft yellow card to finish - was thinking of the primroses in flower at the moment.

Spellbinders 'branching out' die set, justrite 'large fancy sentiments' stamp (CR-03815), unbranded candle die, sizzix flower die

6x5" Grey pearl cardstock base, i die cut a cross stitched rectangle from the same grey.  From left over inked and stenciled cardstock i die cut 3 wheat stems and 2 of the smallest cross stitched rectangle die. I stamped the sentiment with grey ink and glued the wheat stems into place. I added foam tape to the back of the panel and adhered the inked rectangles top right and bottom left just for interest and to break up all the grey.

A6 (4x6") white card base.  I embossed ivory pearl cardstock with a sunray embossed folder and added to the base card.  I die cut my dove from white cardstock and backed the cut out section with gold pearl cardstock.  I added the dove with glue gel.  I then found an ink smudge on the embossing which luckily i managed to hide by adding a little die cut branch - luckily the ink smudge was in the right place to easily cover up!   I felt this card said it all and didn't need a sentiment.

5x5" Ivory embossed base card.  Sentiment stamped in grey.  I die cut the ivy circle from card previously coloured with brusho's, i die cut the ivy circle twice more from scrap cardstock and glued them together, this gives a chipboard depth and easier than trying to stick foam pads to the back of each leaf, it also gave a nice inset for my die cut dove to sit in.  I die cut the dove twice from white card, cutting the back wing off one, i adhered them together with glue gel and added some shading with grey alcohol marker.

and finally, photo not the best as its all a soft lilac.  approx size 4x6"  I die cut my base card and smaller layer from lilac cardstock, on the smaller panel i stamped the sentiment in grey and then embossed with a swirl embossing folder.  I die cut the poppy from an off cut of previously inked with brusho & pixie powder cardstock, i added glue gel behind the flower heads and glue the stems flat to the card front.

Thank you all for stopping by once again, i really do appreciate you taking the time.

Birthday Cats

Good Morning everyone

Today is a birthday card for  craft friend who loves cats so i dug out the fabulous cat stamps from katzelkraft

Card size approx 5x7"    I first die cut my base card using white card and the largest crealies arch die.  I cut a smaller arch from white card and inked with oxide inks - wilted violet and chipped sapphire to the top and evergreen bough & touch of black soot to the bottom to give a night sky feeling. I splashed on some water and dabbed off &  then splashed on mica spray to give a star like shimmer when the light hits it.
From the middle top i die cut a star circle, adhered rose gold satin card behind and added to the base card.

I stamped the cats on wall image twice onto white card and watercoloured, i cut out the whole image from the first one and added to the card with glue gel, from the 2nd one i just cut out the cats and decoupaged onto the main image.

I picked a Tim Holtz snarky chat sticker which says 'I plan my whole day around the possibility of a nap' mounted it onto rose gold satin card and then the base. I glued the die cut stars that fell out from the star circle to finish.

This photo shows the rose gold satin card i used behind the stars better

and as a little gift i wanted to make a cat bookmark

I started by stamping the images onto white card, watercoloured and cut out....in hindsight i should have stamped them on paper to make it easier for the laminator...lesson learnt for next time!
I found some paper in purples as thats my friends fav colour, an off cut of cream pearl card for the base of the bookmark which picks up nicely on the colour of the cats.  Chat stickers and doodling added before laminating, then adding an eyelet and some ribbons.

I had stamped and coloured a few of these cats some made 5 bookmarks in all.  Ideal for using up the offcuts of white card i get from making 6x6" cards.   The stickers read 'I am fabulous' & 'you can never have too much happy'

Stickers read 'be awesome today' & 'darling, you are a work of art'

and finally....I was given a really beautiful paper pad for my birthday in August by ciao bella 'moon&me' and these are a couple of strips from the papers.  The moon reads 'with freedom, books, flowers and the moon who could not be happy?'

Just showing them all together

With Sympathy

Good Morning everyone.  I hope you all had a good weekend.

Today is the occasion we don't like to make for, a sympathy card made for a friend.  More of a CAS design in a soft colour pallet of grey and lilacs.

A6 Cardbase made from white linen cardstock.   I die cut the star circle die from the top of the card front and die cut a white frame to fit around the outside and a small circle to fit in the middle of the star wreath.  On the small circle is stamped a couple of feathers in grey ink added another couple to the card front.  I attached the frame and small circle with foam tape.

I picked a lilac/pale blue patterned paper which actually has the cosmos & stars printed on it and ideal for my insert to show through the stars.

I stamped the sentiment again in grey and cut to a strip and mounted onto a larger strip cut from the paper i used for the insert to tie it together.  Grey enamel dots to finish.

Just showing it side on with the insert

Just a close up of the focal point.  The feather stamps came from a pink ink set and are small and fitted perfectly.

Happy Halloween

Good Morning everyone

Today is a little Halloween card for a crafty friend who is big into Halloween and i had great fun making it.

5x5" black cardbase.   I dug out a previously made background which was made with brushos & pixie powders, cut it to fit my card and die cut the star circle from the middle which i backed with orange mirri card to act as stars shining in the sky.

I die cut the spider and web from black card and added a little silver paint to them both and glued into place, trimming any overhang from the web.  I used a black fine liner pen to draw in a line for my spider to dangle from.

Aall&create crow stamp i stamped twice onto orange inked card, i cut out the whole of one and then just the hat & jacket from the 2nd one which i decoupaged on top.  I added glossy accents to his eye and goggles and glued into place after stamping my greeting.

Items Used:
Aall&create stamp 'dashing crow'
Sentiment stamp
Star wreath cutting die
Spider & web cutting die
Brushos
Pixie powders
Orange Mirri card

Thank you all for stopping by.  I hope you all enjoy the weekend and halloween if you celebrate it.  Hugs Emmax
