Use some Stitching

Welcome to a New Year, hopefully full of lots of good things and plenty of crafting😎

Its time for a new challenge over at Alphabet Challenge with the theme for the next 2 weeks being:

U is for USE SOME STITCHING
Real or Faux

Being that I'm a danger with a needle and thread i went with faux stitching and dug out some stitch edge dies.

I first dug out a pile of offcuts/snippets made with a mix of inks, brushos, pixie powders and die cut them with curved stitched edge border dies. I layered them up over each other in a random way and added black card with pixie powders on the top and bottom edges.  Mounted it all onto white linen cardbase.

I then die cut a stitched daisy flower from snippets of black card with pixie powders on it.  It really shimmers in the light.  Stamped greeting die cut into a pierced fishtail banner. For the repeat stamping of the thank you, I used the stamp platform and moved the card along so that it stamped in a nice even line.  Blue gemstones to finish.

You can really make out the colour of the pixie powders in this photo on the black card.

I was quite pleased with the end result so think i shall be using up some more of those off cuts this way.  Very simple but effective I think.

Items Used:
MFT Stitched curved border dies
Stitched daisy die
MFT pierced fishtail banner die
Various inks

So if you fancy joining in and just to see what everyone comes up with using some stitching do hop over to Alphabet Challenge

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  Hugs Emma

Seasons Greetings

Good Morning everyone, where do the days go to?

Time for a new challenge over at Alphabet Challenge

The theme for the next fortnight is:

SEASONS GREETINGS
So a really easy one, anything christmas goes

Approx 7.5x7.5" in size.  I first stamped my bells twice, i cut one into a hexagon, coloured the 2nd one with wink of stella pens and fussy cut out.  Using yellow/orange inks i stenciled stars around the base layer of bells.

Using white and black card i cut a base card and frames to surround my bell layer.  The white frame i mounted on foam tape and glued my base layer of bells into the middle. I gently shaped the cut out bells and glued on top of the base layer with glue gel.

For the floral arrangement i used rolled roses handmade for me years ago by the lovely ChrisLee from docrafts - thank you Chris😀.  I added pine leaves under the rose.

Close up shows the shimmer of the wink of stella pens better, i added some white gel pen highlights to the bells too. Ive had this bell stamp for years on a stamp plate by chocolate baroque so good to finally make use of it.

A blue version

and a purple version

This close up really does show up the shimmer of the wink of stella pens.  Most definitely my favourite buy of 2018.

Items Used:
Chocolate Baroque stamps 'A child is born'
Cheerylynn pine branch dies
Star stencil
Large Stitched hexagon dies
Wink of stella pens
White gel pen

Q is for Quads

Good Morning everyone, another week passed by - where are they going?

So its time for a new challenge over at Alphabet Challenge  the theme for the next fortnight is

Q - QUADS
Use 4 of something

I went for 4 background panels.

I had actually die cut the panels from left over off cuts of pearlised cardstock.  I then dry embossed the squares with a circle embossing folder.  I then coloured them with a mix of aqua tints in green, blue and purple.  The pearl of the card still shows through the inks really well.  I added the inks to a mat, sprayed with water and dipped the card into it.

I mounted the panels onto silver mirror card  (hard to get a decent photo of the silver), and mounted onto a 6x6 white cardblank.  I die cut the Christmas sentiment from silver mirror card, the circle that comes out the middle i decided to emboss and glue back in.  This i mounted onto a die cut circle and then over the background panels.

Die cut a white snowflake, added a very blingy dazzler to finish.

This one was made in the same way but i had die cut the left over pearl card into rectangle panels instead.  Finished card is 5x7"

Items Used:

MFT Christmas sentiment die
MFT stitched rectangle die set
Wonky stitched square die
Wonk stitched circle die
Poppystamps Marius Stitched snowflake die
Sizzix circle embossing folder
CraftUk Ltd white cardstock
Silver mirri card
Spectrum Noir aqua tints

O for Owl

Good Morning everyone.

Its time for a new challenge over at Alphabet Challenge - the theme for the next fortnight is:

O - OWL

So a good theme suitable for many occasions and any age.  I made a card for someone just starting university to wish them luck.

6x6 white scalloped cardbase. I cut a square of white linen card to fit my base and die cut a star circle frame into it.  I then stamped the greeting.  I added this panel with foam tape onto gold glitter card and then black pearlised card and then the card base.

I then die cut my tattered lace owl die from black pearlised card, after poking all the little pieces out I glued it onto white card and cut around the outside edge.  I then gave it a curve before adding to the card with glue gel.

Just a close up on my owl, you can pick up the gold glitter card a bit better at this angle too.

Items Used:
Tattered lace 'Barn owl in flight' die
Star Circle die (unbranded)
Crafters companion sentiment stamp
Jellybean champagne gold glitter card
Black pearlised card - payper box
White linen & scalloped card blank - craftUK Ltd

So if you fancy joining in and to see what everyone comes up with using Owls, hop over to Alphabet Challenge

M is for Monkey

Good Morning all, i hope you are having a good week.

Its time for a new challenge over at Alphabet Challenge   with the theme being

M -MONKEY

So I dug out the Tim Holtz hipsters animals stamps and just my old brusho's.

I first made a background sheet with green and orange brushos and sprinkled in a little pixie powder, i then added lots of chunky sea salt and left to dry overnight.  It leaves this amazing pattern, this works better when the brusho's are really wet, if you add the salt when its beginning to dry you only get a slight pattern as the salt needs to draw the water into it to get the effect.

I die cut a Polaroid frame from white card, mounted it onto black card to frame.  I die cut the centre from my brusho card.  I then stamped and hand cut my monkey and added him to the frame.  I cut out a second head and decoupaged it with glue gel.  I kept the monkey white as i wanted him to stand out against the colourful background.  I just added some glossy accents to his glasses.

I added a panel of white mounted onto black onto the card base.  I added a panel of my background paper at a wonky angle and added the Monkey topper on top. Stamped sentiment and black enamel dots to finish.

Close up, you can really see the pattern the sea salt leaves.

Items Used:
Tim Holtz Hipster Animal stamps
Sizzix Polaroid die set
Brusho's - leaf green & gambage
Pixie powder - red
Chunky sea salt
Crafters companion sentiment stamp
CraftUk White Hammered Card
Black card - payper box
WRMK black enamel dots

K is for Kraft card

Good Morning everyone, don't the days and weeks pass fast at the moment.

Its time for a new challenge over at alphabetchallenge

The theme this fortnight is:

K - KRAFT

So i dug out my kraft card and a paper pad and my new fringed chevron die.

5x5 kraft cardbase.  After picking which paper pad i wanted to use i cut 5 chevrons from 5 different sheets (ideal for those left over pieces!), i layered these up overlapping on a piece of kraft card, mounted onto black card and then the card base.
I then cut a strip of paper from another sheet from the pad, layered onto black and then covering the top chevron edge i added it with foam tape.  Stamped sentiment mounted onto black and on the belt band.  Light gold gems to embellish.

Just close up trying to show how the chevrons are fringed.

Items Used:

My Minds eye collectable paper pad -  'remarkable'
MFT Fringe Chevron die
Kraft card - papermania
Black card - payper box
Clearly besotted sentiment stamp.
Gold gems.

I is for Ice Cream

Good Morning all

Time for a new challenge over at alphabet challenge, letter I is for

ICE CREAM

Another theme i don't have much in my stash for, found these papers that came free with a cardmaking magazine years ago - knew they would come in handy one day!

5x5" Kraft basecard.  I layered one of the patterned papers onto mulberry cardstock and then the base card.  I die cut a white , larger mulberry, and larger kraft circle and layered up as the base to my ice cream cones.  This i mounted on the front with foam tape.

I then stamped the sentiment on a strip of white card, layered it onto mulberry and then kraft card.  I added a strip of patterned paper to the bottom die cut with a fringe die to add some interest.  Pink enamel drops to finish.

The ice cream cones were originally on ready made topper squares but i cut them out so i just had the cones.  I added touches of glitter glue, enamel drops and glossy accents.

Items Used:
MFT Die-namics Fringe Chevron die
Ice cream papers/toppers - magazine freebies from eons ago
Papermania Kraft cardstock & cardblank
Bazzill Basics Mulberry cardstock
White Linen cardstock

G is for Great Outdoors

Good Morning all, time for a new challenge over at alphabetchallengeblog  the theme this fortnight is:

GREAT OUTDOORS

This theme - 'the great outdoors' - keeps making me think of Yogi Bear and Jellystone (Yellowstone) park - so had to think what the great outdoors means here in the UK, to me it means the countryside, wildlife and nature so one of my favourite places to be.

After digging through my stash and thinking, came across this fox stamp and had the idea of looking through a hole in a fence, or through a gap in a shed to see a fox curled up in the corner of a field.

6x6 white cardblank.  I cut a piece of white card smaller than the cardfront and die cut an aperture - i used a basic leaf shape.  I then stamped the woodgrain stamp and added touches of ink here and there to give it a more aged look.  I cut a piece of white card to fit behind the aperture.

I stamped the fox in red/brown ink and added blue sky and green grass with inks.  I placed this behind the woodpanel on foam tape.  I stamped and fuzzy cut the fox a second time and decoupaged on top of the first one. I then layered onto red/brown cardstock to pick up on the fox colour and adhered to the card front.

I coloured a sheet of white card with distress inks crushed olive & forest moss, i then die cut several ferns using the tattered lace dies and arranged them on the cardfront.  Stamped greeting to finish.

Close up of the fox.  There is no colouring involved on this one so ideal for those of you who aren't into colouring in images.  A few different colour ink pads and you're ready to go!

Items Used:
Stampin up  - 'the wilderness awaits'
Stampin up - 'wetlands'
Stampin up - Hardwood
Tattered lace fern die set
Spellbinders Oval die

So if you fancy joining in and seeing what everyone else comes up with for the great outdoors, please do hop over to alphabetchallenge

Thank you for stopping by, i hope you all have a good weekend. Emmax

E for Ebony

Good Morning everyone

Time for the Alphabet challenge again, i had the choice to pick for the letter 'E' so went with

EBONY
Use a Majority of black

I had great fun with this one.

6x6 Black base card.   I used an old core'dinations cardstock pack called gemstones for all the coloured card here they have a lovely shimmery finish which pops against the black - photo really doesn't do it justice!.

I cut a square slightly smaller than the card front and die cut the leaf die from it 3 times, i then added 3d foam on the back and mounted onto a panel of lime green card and added to the card front.  I stamped the greeting onto yellow card and die cut into a fishtail banner.  I die cut the butterfly from 3 colours of card and added onto a white circle.  I added a white pen doodled border to finish.

A close up showing the layers of the butterfly.

Items Used:
Core'dinations gemstones cardstock
Memory box 'cottage leaf' die
Spellbinders butterfly die
Dienamics fishtail banner die
Justrite sentiment stamps

So if you fancy joining in and seeing what everyone comes up with using mainly black please do hop over to alphabetchallengeblog
