Tri-fold shutter card for Creative Creases

Im honoured to be guest DT over at Creative Creases Challenge once again

This time I decided to use an old tattered lace die set to make an A4 tri fold shutter card.  Its years old and was preloved when I bought it so it must be over 10yrs old and been gathering dust!

I also wanted to use some old paperartsy flower stamps so have gone for a full on summer vibe.

A4 white die cut card base.  I then made my own blue sky background which you can see at the end of the post, this i then die cut with the matt layer dies from the set.

I stamped the flowers with dark blue ink so a bit softer than black and coloured with alcohol markers. I then fussy cut the flowers and got arranging, adhering some flat and some with pinflair glue gel for dimension.  I added them in 2 different bunches so that depending on what angle the card is stood at you mostly see different flowers.

I stamped 2 butterflies in purple, added soft colour, cut out and added to the panels along with 2 flower heads.

The quote was stamped in blue and added to the middle.  Touches of diamond stickles glitter glue added to the flower centres and butterfly wings for a little bit of sparkle to finish. 

The quote 'There are always flowers for those who want to see them' - it was originally a vertical stamp but wouldn't fit the middle panel so by cutting the words up I made it fit😁.

I coloured these flowers more like red poppies.  The foliage was such a fine stamp I didn't fancy fussy cutting so i stamped it in green ink and coloured completely over the top with green alcohol marker and then cut out.  To make my arrangements i cut the heads and stems off some so that i could stick at different angles and make more realistic, the foliage i cut into small pieces and tucked in among the flowers.

My background.  I started with a sheet of white A4 and added turquoise and ultramarine brusho powders.  Once completely dry and to soften the vibrancy a little i used an A4 shell stencil with matt lilac acrylic paint.  I then added lots of stamping with various inks and stamps using 1st,2nd&3rd generation stamping - basically just stamping until no ink left on the stamp.  The main text reads 'spread a little happiness wherever you go' this is an aall&create stamp set.

To finish the background i took this sun swirly stencil and used gold acrylic paint, sadly photos don't pick up how shiny it it, but when the light hits it, it adds a subtle bling to the background

When I made this a few weeks ago it was wild, wet & windy so I was thinking of sunnier days, since then my mojo has gone on holiday...hopefully it returns soon as I do have birthdays to make for!  Its been beautiful weather last couple of weeks in Cornwall - windy but that is ideal for drying the washing as long as you add plenty of pegs😁 And hat it definitely needed for my walks but it was beautifully and sunny so you can forgive the wind.  I hope you all have a wonderful month of May. WLS Aug #2 Flowers - foxgloves

Good Morning everyon

Time with our mid month inspiration for We Love Stamping where the theme is 

FLOWERS

So a nice easy theme this month, but we always have the anything goes option too as long as you use stamping

Ive made a little wall hanging picture using strong printed acetate from Stamperia as the base

A5 size. I first did the background which you can see below with photos.

I then stamped the Pink Ink foxgloves onto white card, watercoloured with derwent inktense penciils and cut out.  I also stamped bee using a stamp set from chocolate baroque and cut out, I did all the stamping using purple ink so its softer than black.

I stamped the sentiment using a paperartsy JFOY cut out and adhered with pinflair glue gel.

From green brusho coloured card I die cut memory box pine foliage border twice, off set and added to the bottom so it looks like the foxgloves are growing out of it. To finish i punched holes and set green eyelets in the top and threaded with green waxed cotton so it can be hung up

The printed acetate has a lovely shine to it and adds a different texture 

I gave the foxgloves and pine border a coat of mod podge to seal them

I first cut the printed acetate to A5 size and rounded the corners with my WRMK corner chomper - I did this so that less chance of injury as its very stiff and corners quite sharp if caught.

I then added torn strips of washi tape here and there - this aall&create tape has similar tones in purples, teal and green.  Then stencilled on foliage in a vintage white matt acrylic paint this helped to break up all the glossy shine from the solid acetate.  I then stencilled on smaller foliage with green and fuchsia dora paint which has a beautiful shimmer to it.  I added some green acrylic paint across the bottom where the foxgloves would be growing out from.  

To finish I edged the whole panel with fuchsia dora paint to frame it

Bluebells

Good Morning everyone

Today is 2 cards Ive made for my sister-in-laws birthday, she likes more blue tones so thats what ive gone with.

This first one is another DL using another paperartsy stamp set i was given.I thought one of the flowers looked like a bluebell and as they are in flower at the moment thats what i went with.  I first stamped the flower onto card previously coloured with blue brusho powders & hints of mica, I then cut the flower heads out.  I stamped the stem twice onto green inked card and cut out.

I die cut the largest DL die from white linen card and built up a garden scene with stencils & distress & oxide inks, i added the sun rays to the area i wanted the flowers so that the yellow contrasted with and helped the blue bells stand out.  I mounted the panel onto silver mirror card which i had turned blue with alcohol inks.

I glued the flower stems down flat and then added the flowers with glue gel.  Sentiment stamped onto white linen and matted onto more of the blue mirri card and added to finish.

A close up of the bluebells, i actually cut the top stem in half so that i could build them up to look like our native British bluebell where the flowers are only on one side of the stem rather than the Spanish bluebell which has flowers on both sides of the stems.

Card 2. 

Approx size 6x6".  I found this pretty butterfly paper which i decided to go with. I die cut my base card from white and then a mat layer from blue glitter card to pick up on the blue in the paper.   

I then die cut the paper into using 3 sizes of nesting die to make frames, I added 2mm foam tape to the back of the largest and attached into place, then i used 1mm foam tape on the middle layer and attached into place making sure the pattern lined up, the smallest one i glued flat into the middle, again lining up the pattern - kind of based on the old pyramage - just to give a bit more interest to a basic card which also lets the paper shine. 

I then die cut the birthday sentiment from white card and matted onto a larger blue glitter circle and attached to the middle.  I fussy cut some butterflies from the paper and added over the top to finish.

Colourful florals

Good Morning everyone

Today is a couple of cards using paperartsy stamps i was gifted, more DL cards im afraid.  Ive used the same stamps on all of them but gone with very different colour combos.  

White DL card (8x4")  I first stamped and watercoloured the images with wink of stella pens so they really shimmer in the light which sadly the photos don't pick up.  I then dug through my background pile to find some that contrast - this first one was with oxide inks, I then stencilled over the top with various floral and foliage stencils with distress inks and oxide inks to give some depth in the background and feeling you are in the garden.  I die cut it with a fancy DL die and then stamped some of the smaller stamps from the set in grey.

I added my flowers with glue gel and doodled in some stems for them.  I stamped the sentiment onto white card, matted onto orange and then white die cut with the fancy dies i used for the main image.  I added this panel with foam tape and attached the butterflies.

Version 2, flowers again coloured with wink of stella pens, the background was using brushos, again i then stencilled and stamped over the top. I added stickles 'frosted lace' to the circular foliage stamp I used in the background as it gives a fluffy white finish.

I stamped some words from another paperartsy set i was gifted, which reads 'have a bloomin' marvellous day', I cut them out, mounted onto yellow card and added glossy accents over the words.

Version 3. This time i started with a white background and stenciled on foliage to build up a garden scene, then stamping one of the foliage stamps with green ink. I used a sunray stencil with amber oxide ink.  I matted my DL die cut onto white card inked with the stamp purple wink of stella pens i used to colour the flower so this card is full sparklicious! I stamped the flower stems in place with black ink and then added the flower heads & butterflies with glue gel.  

Stamped sentiment mounted on foam tape and yellow enamel dots added to finish. 

I was trying to capture some of the sparkle but sadly photos just don't pick it up

Floral thank you

Good Morning everyone

A craft friend recently had a craft room destash and very generously sent me several sets of paperartsy stamps, it really was a very happy day when i opened that parcel - hours of fun to be had.  I used one of the sets to make her a thank you card. 

White DL (4x8") base card  I first stamped and watercoloured the flowers & butterfly with distress inks and cut out.  I took a piece of pre-inked blue cardstock and worked on top with stencils and a mix of distress inks & oxide inks.  I stamped the little circle stamp from the stamp set in the pink ink i used to colour the flowers and i stamped from the set another stamp that could be flower buds with grey ink, all just to add interest to the background and give the effect of a garden.  I then die cut it into a panel.

I worked out where i wanted the flower heads and stamped the stems into place with black ink, i then added the flower heads with pinflair glue gel.  From the left over pieces of the background i die cut the sentiment and layered with white and added with foam tape to finish.

Just a close up.  I actually made a mistake cutting out the orange flower at the back and chopped 2 petals off but by strategically hiding it no-one would know😀   The flowers are coloured with ripe persimmon, picked raspberry, squeezed lemonade, twisted citron, rustic wilderness distress inks.

In the garden

Good Morning everyone, i hope you had a good weekend - boy did it rain!

DL card (approx 4x8")  I cut a scalloped edge (yep its not very even/straight - i blame the heat when making it😀) I then got stamping with my paperartsy flower stamps & carabelle Zinouk in the garden to create a scene.  I added a little water colour and doodled in some ground for them to stand on.  I wanted the middle sunflower to have a longer stem to when i stamped it i didn't ink the very end of the stem so i then took a fine liner pen to extend it to make a nice tall sunflower.  I stamped some dragonflies.  

I splashed some of the inks i used to colour my images onto the background too - i know im doing that alot at the moment but for me personally it just softens all the white without having too busy a background.

I then stamped the flower heads and zinouk onto white card, i then watercoloured the heads with wink of stella pens so they have a lovely shimmer.  I then cut the coloured flower heads out, using a craft knife to cut around the inside design part, i then used glue gel to decoupage them over the ones on the main panel.

I cut Zinouk out and left her uncoloured so she stands out in a bright colourful garden, i gently curved her to add shape and attached with glue gel.  I did give her more of a smile with a fine liner pen as she is a bit moody otherwise😀

You can see the depth on my flowers better here, i added a piece of paper similar colours to those on the front to the inside after cutting it with the scalloped edge die.
