40th Birthday

Good Morning everyone

This is the 2nd card i made for my brothers 40th birthday for me to give him.  Ive gone for a funny one using my new Katzelkraft bird stamps which i got for my birthday last month.

I first made a background with brushos and pixie powders and let dry.  Using my hexagon dies i made a white cardbase.  I then cut a frame from white card.  I then cut my background with a hexagon die and then used a tim holtz die to cut out little circles from the middle of my coloured panel, i added gold holographic card behind this - it kind of gives the effect of a disco ball when the light hits it for my dancing birds.  I added that to the base and then the frame on top with foam tape.

I stamped the birds and simply coloured in grey tones so they stand out with the bright background, just a hint of colour for the beak & feet, i then cut them out.  I computer printed the 40 & no way and die cut into speech bubbles & stamped the happy birthday and die cut into an oval.  I added the birds and sentiment to the base card with glue gel to finish.

A close up trying to show the light hitting the holographic, in life its really shiny and bright

In the birdhouse...

Good Morning all.

Its a mixed media home decor piece from me today.  I made this back in January as a gift and now its landed at its new home I can share it.   Using the fab katzelkraft bird stamps ive made up a birdhouse for them to live in.

I took a frame and covered it in black gesso & touches of texture paste then layered on various acrylic paints. I lined each section with a brown paper that I'd over stamped with a wood grain stamp.  I stamped lots of the birds and watercoloured with distress oxide inks and cut them out, adding glossy accents to the eyes.  I then got building up each room - see below.  I added a key to the roof to act as a kind of chimney and a copper effect label, keyhole & key to the front of my birdhouse.

Here we start in the nursery where the new parents are waiting for their chicks to hatch.  I used beads for the eggs & a little easter basket which id cut off the handles for my nest.

In one birds bedroom she is trying to work out which outfit of feathers to wear today.  I made a little mirror for her using mirri card and a chipboard frame, little metal hanger charm and some feathers and a little sewing machine charm for when she wants to personalise her outfit.  As birds aren't afraid of spiders she has a pet spider too😁

In the play room the chicks are practising a new dance routine.  The spiders and web i die cut from black card and added silver acrylic paint, to the spiders i added crackle accents and let dry.

And in the kitchen its chaos😁  I used dried hazel twigs for the wood stools my birds are stood and sat on.  Reindeer moss on the floor, some more feathers and metal charms.

Items Used:
Katzelkraft stamps - les zoisos
Stampin up stamp - hardwood
Spider & web die
Patterned paper
Distress Oxide inks - peacock, blueprint, persimmon, raspberry, lemon, citron, candied apple
Pebeo acrylic paints
Tim Holtz ideology items
Various metal charms
Feathers

Thank you all for stopping by.  My mojo is still on holiday, really need to start on some cards as got several birthdays coming up so hopefully it returns soon😊 I hope its a good week for you all.  Hugs Emmaxxx

Cheeky Robins acetate cards

Good Morning everyone.

Todays set of Chrismtas cards is using the Katzelkraft bird stamps which when using them before i thought the round shape is ideal for a British Robin.  Ive teamed them up with silver foiled acetate and a patterned paper insert.  Its a DL card and to make my expensive foiled acetate go further ive just used it on the front of my card and cardstock on the back so ive made a side opening design.

Approx size: 4x8"  I first stamped the birds onto white cardstock and water coloured with distress inks and cut out.
I cut a piece of A4 acetate in half lengthways - thus making enough for 2 cards, i scored about 1cm in on the left side, folded and glued that tab to a piece of white cardstock, this formed my base card.  I made an insert using festive 12x12 patterned paper - on this first card its a pine branch print paper and a snowy tree foiled acetate.  I tore white cardstock, stamped the greeting and attached to the bottom of the card to give the appearance of snow and then arranged my birds to finish.

I doodled in some ground for the birds using a fine liner pen and grey alcohol marker, i added glossy accents to their eyes too, some glitter highlights to the sky and ground to finish.  Sadly the photos don't really show up the really shiny silver foiled design on the acetate - its trees and mountains

Version 2 - you can;t really see the acetate design clearly but its silver foiled trees and mountains so i added a blue snowflake paper as the insert and added some white pen falling snow to the front of the acetate.

Version 3 Snowflake foiled acetate and a snowfall paper insert.

Showing how the acetate is free from the insert to add more interest

Items Used:
Katzelkraft stamps - 'les zoisos'
Hunkydory printed acetate - 'Winter Forest'
12x12 Christmas paper pads - the works
Sentiment stamp
Distress inks - vintage photo, chipped sapphire, evergreen bough, lucky clover, ripe persimmon, red brick, fossilized amber,
White gel pen
Starlight stickles glitter glue

Thank you all for stopping by.  Hugs Emmax

Birthday Birds

Good Morning everyone.

Today im sharing the second card i made for my sister in laws birthday, very colourful and funky with these fab Katzelkraft bird stamps.  Ive done a fold back card.

DL in size(approx 4x8").  Out of A3 card i made a DL landscape card with the fold on the short edge.  I then used a scalloped edge die to cut the ends - just to add a bit of fun to the card.  I then folded the front of the card in half back on itself as shown.  Using my stamp platform i stamped a bird in the centre of the card - 1st on the folded back front and then keeping the stamp in the same place on the platform on the back panel, so that these 2 line up - hope that makes sense!
I then stamped a different bird again once on the front panel and then in the same place on the back panel and a 3rd different bird on the right of both the back panel and the front panel - (photos below show this better)  Essentially i have the 3 birds in exactly the same place on the front & back panels.

I doodled in some ground and added detail with small stamps and stencils to the background.  I coloured the legs and feathers of the birds and added some colour to the ground.

I then stamped the birds again on white card and water coloured with oxide inks, i then cut them out - only leaving the legs on the middle bird that over laps the front the rest i cut the legs off.  I gently curved them and attached with glue gel lining up with the legs on the card base.

I then stamped 2 sentiments onto coloured paper, cut to exactly the same size, i then attached one to the back panel and then lined up the second one and attached to the front panel so that when the card i closed the front one completely hides the 2nd one.

Showing it stood up - half of the middle bird on the front overlaps the edge.  Of course i had to add glossy accents to their eyes and a few touches of glitter glue.

Showing it open out.

Items Used:
Katzelkraft bird ' les zoisos' & words stamps
Lavinia mini stamps - orb & toadstool
Stampin up - curly cute sentiment stamp
MFT scalloped edge die
Stencils
Oxide inks - pistachio, candied apple, peacock, lemonade, citron, amber, evergreen. lagoon
A3 craftUK ltd smooth white card

For family birthdays i always make 2 cards, one from me and one from my parents, I try to make them completely different to each other and when making them i kind of have an idea of which one for mum and which for me but i always give my mum the choice - 9/10 she picks the one i made for her - mind you if dads around and she asks him he usually picks the one i had in mind for me😁

Thank you all for stopping by once again.  I hope you all have a good week. Stay safe and carry on crafting. Hugs Emmax

Birdie Hugs

Good Morning Everyone

Today im sharing a little Hugs card for a friend.  Using more new Katzelkraft stamps of these fabulous quirky birds, combining them with ombre papers.

DL in size.  I took a piece of this fab ombre paper for the background, i felt it looked like a night sky so after cutting to size i splashed silver paint on to look like stars - its metallic so shimmers in the light, i attached to the cardfront.  I then stamped my birds, once on the base and again onto patterned papers.
On the paper birds I used white paint on their eyes and yellow paint to their beaks, i then cut them out, gently shaped the bodies and added to the base lining up with their legs. Glossy accents added to their eyes.
I stamped the hugs sentiment. I then took a fineliner black pen and doodled in the ground for them to stand on.  Stamped the berry/flowers using a mini lavinia stamp.
I doodled with a white gel pen and added black glitter to the flowers to finish.

Close up, you can see their glossy eyes shining.
