Motorbike male birthday card

Good Morning all, i hope you had a good weekend and all that rain we had missed you.

So for something completely different today, i had to make a birthday card for a older male family member, in his youth he loved his motorbikes.

First i die cut the bike in red gloss and black gloss cardstock, as the outside line of the tyre is so fine i wanted to back it with card to add stability, so i embossed the die only onto grey pearl cardstock, i then cut around the outside line.  I then glued the black gloss bike onto the grey one, sticking those fine outside tyre line not so easy, so don't look too close! lol I then cut parts off the red gloss bike off and glued on top, slightly offset so the black peeks through and adds more depth.

For the background i embossed sizzix framelits shape with spellbinders kicking rubber embossing folder, matted on black gloss cardstock.  I then die cut tim holtz corner from white cardstock and mattered again onto black gloss cardstock.  White A5 cardblank.  Sentiment die cut in red and black and cut in half to fit.

and one for the box using a different corner die in the background. and on this one instead of the black gloss card i used dark green mirror card.

items used
Bike die - unknown make
Spellbinders M-bossibilities 'kickin rubber'  EL-016
Spellbinders - sentiments 3 - S2-139
Sizzix framelits 658204
Tim Holtz tattered corner, mixed media dies 660220

Flower power birthday cards

Good Morning all, beautiful sunny morning down here.

So today a complete change from the baby cards, a full on flower cards i made for DC buddies birthdays in December.  Sorry its those curved border dies again, i was on a roll with them at the time.

So for this first one i kept the back of the card in tact and covered with patterned paper, i then die cut the front of the card with the spellbinders curved border dies. Happy birthday die matted onto paper to match the background, die cut leaves and ready made roses.

Showing the card closed with the background paper showing through.

This second one i made for the amazing Samsweep and is similar to some uploaded before which she loved, especially the one for Lizzy's birthday (link below if you fancy a peek at that one), different for me i went with more muted colours, the ready made carnations were white and i just edged with peach ink.  I do love how the light shows through the die cut detail.

Papers used on both cards is 'Zephyr' by prima

also a link back to one i made with these dies back in 2014 for anyone who is interested

Thank you for looking and all your amazing comments this week.  I hope you all have a lovely weekend and keep warm. Hugs Emma x

Baby cards

Good Morning all.

So today im sharing the second baby boy card i made for my cousin, but i also made a few extra for the box.

Yep its those cross stitch fishtail banners again!  And most of you that know me know i rarely stick to baby blue and pink!

Olive green polka dot cardstock, tattered lace elephant die, using a second cross stitch banner, I cut it in half and glued it back on behind the main topper to extend it, so it peeks out the top and bottom, on that i stamped the sentiment by carefully bending my clearly besotted stamp to fit the fishtail shape.  For the side panels i cut a cross stitch rectangle is half to extend it.  Overall card size is 6 x 5.5".  Buttons from my stash, not used buttons in a while.

and below for the box

Tattered Lace Giraffe die, lemon

Pink Giraffe

Baby boy card

Good Morning all, i hope you all had a good weekend and keeping warm

So today im sharing a baby boy card i made for my cousin who's new family member arrived last week.

Octagon cut from my minds eye 'meadow' paper, matted onto a white card blank and cut to shape as well.  Mr Stork stamped onto white card and patterned paper, i paper pieced the bundle, bow tie and hat, used inks to colour the rest, i carefully cut him out and curved to add dimension before sticking him on. I added glossy accents to his glasses. Sentiment stamped onto stitched circle and matted with duck egg blue and white card circles.  White pearls to frame the topper.

Showing the detail better.

The stork and sentiment is from a stamp set by justrite called 'special delivery' code CR-04815

SMILE Family portraits!

Good Morning all, i hope you have all had a good week and those that haven't been well are on the mend.

So today I'm sharing the second outing of my Tim Holtz crazy mini cats and dog stamps.  I went with the idea of family photos on the wall.  This time instead of colouring the cats and dogs I left them white and went with a bright background.

First i stamped the cat/dog, and drew in a little background scene using a black fine liner, i then masked the images with pebeo drawing gum, once that was dry i built up the colour with distress inks, this one is ripe persimmon and cracked pistachio.  I then splashed on water and where it dries gives a mottled effect.

I then stamped over the top in grey using Stampin up Dictionary definition stamp to add detail. Once dry remove the drawing gum and shade around the images using a soft grey pencil to add more depth.

Close up to show the detail better

This version is twisted citron and picked raspberry inks. Different from the cats is that i used a pale lilac marker on the dogs noses and collars.

This version is salty ocean and wild honey inks, where they meet gives the 3rd colour of green.

Smile is a sizzix die cut in the same colours of ink and a black shadow added.  Craft wire and gems to add the picture hangings.

and showing one of the inserts, i stamped all of them in grey with the same cats/dogs i used on the card front.  A5 cards in size.

Crazy pups & kitties

Morning Everyone

So today im sharing a box set i made with the Tim Holtz mini crazy cats and dogs.  My first outing for most of them, had fun colouring them in crazy colours to add a splash of colour to mainly black and white cards.

After making the box and lid i covered it with white panels which id stamped the cats and dogs on, 12 cards to a box with envelopes

below is a close up of some of the cards

A6 black card blank, clearly besotted sentiment stamps, i did a mix of sentiments for the box and 6 cats and 6 dogs.  For the toppers i used sizzix Polaroid dies, cut in white, i then stamped and coloured the images onto the middle section, layered back into the frame and mounted on black cardstock.

Below showing the full menagerie! All watercoloured with distress inks, some i doodled a little scene to ground them, a couple of the cats with butterflies, i just used a black micron pen for that.  I shaded around them with a light grey promarker and also the outside edge to give depth in the frame.  Had great fun going crazy with the colour combos. Glossy accents on all noses and eyes.

Distress inks used, squeezed lemonade, wild honey, ripe persimmon, salty ocean, twisted citroen, raspberry, cracked pistachio, clover, seedless preserve, fired brick, peacock, shaded lilac.

Mini floral cards

Good Morning all.

Today im sharing these little cards i made with my new cross stitch fishtail banner dies

I first cut a card blank with the largest die by making sure the cutting edge was over the top edge of the fold.  Violets cut from brusho coloured cardstock which i also used for the matting layer, the violets were matted onto a smaller cross stitched banner.  I cut the sentiment tab also using the fishtail banners, but just the top end so that i got the cross stitch detail. Orange stickles for the flower center.

Keyholder

Good Morning everyone, i hope you are all keeping warm and dry.

So today im sharing the project i made for my brothers birthday.  I bought a plain key shaped key holder in MDF and made it all grungy and metallic, ideal for his workshop i hope.

First i coated it in black gesso, then added die cut embossed cogs, keys and keyholes which are tim holtz grunge board that ive had years, so good to use that!  Pearl drops to look like rivets.  I then coated it all in plenty of black gesso again. Once totally dry i dry brushed on metallic silver and gold paint, making sure not to cover too much of the base black and only catch the raised elements.

The 'keys' word were plastic alpha letters ive again had years, good to finally find a use for some of this stash.  Lots of coats of varnish to ensure the damp weather doesn't get too the MDF too soon.

another close up of the detail.  Hopefully its masculine enough and ideal for a man cave!

and today i am also sharing the christmas present said brother made me for Christmas, an amazing Daffodil pot which im going to put all my paint brushes in.  Its all made totally out of metal - you cant beat getting a present that has been handmade for you, makes it special.

Close up of the flower, all made from sheet metal and formed into shape, even down to the fluted edge!   Looks like i will have to start saving those old paint tins when he can use them like this!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and thank you for looking and following my little blog. Emma x

LittleEm's Thank you cards.

Good Morning everyone on this grey day.

So today Im sharing a batch of 'littleem's' cards, using the piece left after making 5x5 cards, apertures and curved borders (again!)

These are all approx 3.5x6" in size.  I first cut a curved edge on the front of the card, then an aperture, covered the inside with patterned paper to show through the aperture and edge.  You can have great fun with the die you use for the aperture and the patterned paper.

Simple stamped greeting.

And below a get well version

Umbrella die, stamped get well and floral paper, i also edged the umbrella with glitter glue on this one.

this design is an update on the one in the link below if you fancy a peek
