Sunshine & Trees

Good Morning all, i hope you are having a good week, being half term its busy for me with visitors.

Today im sharing 2 cards i made using layered leaf dies that i also thought looked like trees once made up.

6x6 cardblank.  I first cut my 'trees' from orange/red brusho cardstock and the top layer from gold mirror card and glued together.  I cut white card slightly smaller than the cut front and die cut the circle burst from it to act as the sun and lightly inked the edges in blue.  I mounted this with 3d foam over a sheet of yellow paper.  From green patterned paper i die cut 2 curved border panels to act as grass/hills.  Stamped greeting.

Little birds die cut from the same card as my trees base layers.

A close up showing how i left the edges of the 'trees' free and only glued the centres,  i slightly bent them up to add dimension.

I then made a version for my sister in laws birthday in her colours of blues and greens.  This time i cut them from card coloured with distress oxide inks and the top layer with silver mirror card.

Close up, the colours are brighter than the photo shows up.

Items used:
Memory box lrg circle burst
Memory box bird dies
MFT Dienamics Layers Leaf die set
MFT scalloped edge dies
Clearly Besotted sentiment stamps
Dovecraft papers 'back to basics IV'
Oxide inks - cracked pistachio, twisted lime, peacock feathers
distress ink - tumbled glass

Go Green - Upcycling

Good Morning everyone.

Its time for a new challenge over at Make My Monday,
 the theme this fortnight is:

GO GREEN
Upcycling, recycling, reuse

So i had a dig around and came up with used toothpaste tubes, cat food tins, cat food boxes and plastic packaging and had fun making this wall hanging.  I decided it would be good to go with a nature theme as we can all do our own little bit to help nature and the planet by recycling and reducing our use of plastics and packaging.

8x8 mountboard panel for the base.  I covered the base with a couple of patterned papers.  I then added a panel of corrugated cardboard with some of the front torn off to reveal the corrugation and texture and added to the base.
After preparing my recycled items - see below for full details  I arranged them to my liking,

I added a feather to my birds wing and a couple of others amid my die cut greenery, as well as the foiled foliage i added die cut ferns.

A close up, i added twine in the background for more texture, buttons to my plastic packaging flowers.  Chit Chat stickers used for the title
'Cherish Everyday  -  Beautiful World'

This shows my used items, 2 toothpaste tubes, ive turned one over so that you can see that although plastic tubes they are foil lined - they are 2 different brands aquafresh & oral B so i think most modern plastic toothpaste tubes are lined, just cut off the top and bottom and cut along one side, wash and they are ready to be used, the cat food tin is foil, plastic packing - some crafty dies came in that and then the cardboard cat food box, has a lovely brown tone to the inside.

This shows them die cut, the leaf swirls are toothpaste tube, the leaf from the foil tin, plastic flowers and the brown bird from the cat food box.  I used my old Sizzix bigz dies to cut them all.

The plastic package flowers, toothpaste & foil all take alcohol inks beautifully to colour them, you can get a lovely marble like effect which adds more interest to them instead of flat colour.  The cat food tin foil is brilliant as you can mold it into shape.

Items Used:
Sizzix Bigz dies - Flower Layers #5, birds, vine w/leaves, fern
Tattered lace fern dies
Tim Holtz chit chat stickers
Tim Holtz alcohol inks - various colours

I hope i have inspired you to maybe look at some of that 'rubbish' we all produce and think of another way to use it.  Please do hop over and see what the rest of the team has come up with and also what all those entering come up with over the fortnight.  I think this is going to be a good challenge, lets all do a little for our beautiful world.

Thank you as always for stopping by and all your comments last week. I hope you all enjoy your bank holiday Monday and the sun shines. Emma

E for Ebony

Good Morning everyone

Time for the Alphabet challenge again, i had the choice to pick for the letter 'E' so went with

EBONY
Use a Majority of black

I had great fun with this one.

6x6 Black base card.   I used an old core'dinations cardstock pack called gemstones for all the coloured card here they have a lovely shimmery finish which pops against the black - photo really doesn't do it justice!.

I cut a square slightly smaller than the card front and die cut the leaf die from it 3 times, i then added 3d foam on the back and mounted onto a panel of lime green card and added to the card front.  I stamped the greeting onto yellow card and die cut into a fishtail banner.  I die cut the butterfly from 3 colours of card and added onto a white circle.  I added a white pen doodled border to finish.

A close up showing the layers of the butterfly.

Items Used:
Core'dinations gemstones cardstock
Memory box 'cottage leaf' die
Spellbinders butterfly die
Dienamics fishtail banner die
Justrite sentiment stamps

Steampunk

Good Morning everyone, i hope you had a good weekend.

Today im sharing my first post after being invited to join the design team for
the cardz4guyz challenge blog.  As most of you know i make alot of male cards so quite enjoy making them.

The theme this fortnight is

Science-Fiction Or Steampunk

both are a bit of a challenge for me, after searching all my stash I found these steampunk digi images as the starting point.

7x7 White cardblank.  I first designed the background using serif craft artist & the digi kit by daisytrail 'Steampunk Emporium'  I cut this into a square and mounted onto Navy blue cardstock and then the base.

I then printed the crow off twice and decoupaged him, i added a die cut hat and some glossy accents to him.  I die cut cogs from silver mirror card and added a touch of blue paint to them, to tone down the silver and tie in with the blue in the crow.  A couple of bolts cut from orange mirror card, these i used a permanent pen on to tone the colour down, add the pen wait a little for it to start drying and then rub off - gives a nice aged effect on mirror card.

I added a metal word band with screw top brads to finish.  It says ;
'Possibility begins with imagination'

A close up.

Items Used:
Serif Craft Artist
Daisytrail 'Steampunk emporium' (discontinued)
Cheerylynn cog dies
Spellbinders 'nuts & bolts' die S2-288
Hat die - unknown
Tim Holtz ideology word band
Screw top brads
Glossy Accents

So if you fancy joining in and see what the rest of the design team and entrants come up with do hop over to cardz4guyz

Thank you for stopping by, i hope you all have a good week and the sun shines on you all. Emma

Floral birthday

Good Morning all, i hope you had a good weekend.

Can you believe its a fortnight gone again and time for a new challenge at
The theme this time is:

A Hint of Summer to Come

I found a lovely summery floral paper with blue cornflowers in my stash to go with.  I picked out co-ordinating cardstock and dies to go with.

5.5 x 7" white cardblank.  I first stamped my sentiment direct onto the cardfront and then die cut my pattern paper with a MFT edge die, layered it onto blue cardstock cut with the same edge die,  i added this to the cardfront with foam tape.

I made up a cornflower using my old Tonic cornflower die and added a button centre.  I die cut different foliage from orange and yellow cardstock to pick up on them in the paper.  Ive had the Sue Wilson foliage die years but its such a pain to cut cleanly that i rarely use it but its perfect with this paper.

I added a thin strip of blue to the top edge and 3 yellow buttons to finish.

Exactly the same details as the first one but just reversed with the paper at the bottom and white linen card on top.

Hopefully summer will arrive soon and i have lots of beautiful flowers in the garden!  So if you fancy joining our challenge or just want to see what the rest of the DT came up with and all the amazing entries, please do hop over to

Items used:

Paper - B&M
MFT scalloped edge die

Sue Wilson Fern Trio die set CED1401

Just Wanted to say Hi!

Good Morning everyone, i hope you are enjoying a sunny bank holiday.

Today im sharing some simple hello cards trying out my new Katzelkraft stamps and my old favourites of brushos & pixie powders.

6x6 white cardblank.  Using the stamp platform i first stamped my 2 dogs onto white card, being silhouettes the stamp platform is ideal for repeat stamping to build up a nice even black image and then added the sentiment.  After die cutting into a square i used turquoise brusho and purple pixie powders and spirzed with water and left to do its magic.  Adding the pixie powders adds a lovely pearlised shimmer.  Mounted onto black card and then the base card.  Orange gems to embellish.

Same as above just using gambage brusho and red pixie powder, blue gems to finish.  On each of them i doodled in some ground for them to sit on with a black fine liner pen.

and now the cats..

I first stamped the cat stamp, again using the stamp platform so i could get them nice and back.  I then die cut into a stitched octogen and added gambage brusho and red pixie powder.  I love the gambage brusho as its has a mix of colours in it.    Mounted onto black and then a 5x5 white card blank, cutting to the octogen shape. Blue gems to finish.

and a blue version.

Items used
Katzelkraft stamps - cat 'Solo27'.
Dogs - Solo30 & Solo31
Penny black stamp - 'Kool Kats' - the sentiment
Memory box stitched octogen die
Brushos
Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders

Flower Pots

Good Morning everyone and im back, glad to see my scheduled posts went ahead as planned while i've was 'away'.  Thank you to those of you who popped by, I will catch up with you all soon.

Today im just sharing a little best wishes card i made for a friend just to let them know i was thinking of them.

DL white card blank.  I cut a white panel slightly smaller than the card front and stamped my greeting, I then embossed the top section above the sentiment with a brick style embossing folder.  I die cut the flower pots twice from white card, i coloured all of the first one with alcohol pens and then just the pots on the 2nd one.  I then cut the pots out and mounted on top of the first one with glue gel to add some dimension.

I die cut lots of little butterflies from scrap of card coloured with the same colour pens.

A close up of the flower and pots, this shows the true colour better.  I added touch of glitter glue to the flowers.

Items Used:
Unbranded Flower pot die
Memory box mini butterfly dies
Sizzix embossing folder
Phill Martin sentiment stamp

Thank you for stopping by, I haven't done any crafting for about 3 weeks now so need to find some mojo. I hope you all enjoy the bank holiday weekend. Emma
